Jahjaga: Constitution guarantees rule of law throughout Kosovo (Telegrafi)

Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga said today in Pristina that the Constitution of Kosovo is among the best constitutions in the world. During a ceremony on the anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution, Jahjaga said the people of Kosovo should be proud with their Constitution which guarantees the rule of law, democratic development and for promoting equality among all citizens.

President Jahjaga accepted the credentials of United Arab Emirates ambassador (Koha)

The President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, received today the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Podgorica, non-resident for Kosovo, Hafsa Abdullah Mohammed Sharif Al Ulama, who delivered her credential letters. Jahjaga praised the relations between Kosovo and the United Arab Emirates and expressed commitment to deepen cooperation in all fields of mutual interest. She highly praised the support that the United Arab Emirates have given Kosovo in all processes of state-building.

President Jahjaga meets Romanian delegation (RTKLive)

Kosovo’s President, Atifete Jahjaga, on Monday met with Romanian State Senator, Gabriela Cretu, and advisers of the Romanian Prime Minister and Members of Romanian Parliament. Jahjaga briefed the Romanian delegation on the efforts of Kosovo institutions to strengthen democracy and the rule of law, to build a free market economy and to consolidate the presence of Kosovo in the international arena. Jahjaga also spoke about the European perspective and the importance that it carries a unifying agenda for the stability of Kosovo and the entire region.

U.S. Embassy welcomes signing of foreign terrorist fighter law (RTK)

The United States Embassy in Pristina issued a communiqué today welcoming the passing and signing into law the legislation that prohibits Kosovars from fighting abroad. “The United States Embassy extends its warm congratulations to President Jahjaga and the Kosovo Assembly on the passing and signing into law the Foreign Terrorist Fighter legislation. This legislation is an important instrument in a broader strategy of fighting violent extremism.

Jahjaga: Proud of women’s achievements in Kosovo (RTKLive)

Kosovo’s President, Atifete Jahjaga, marking the Week of Women in Kosovo, said that the overall process depends on the role of women. "We take pride in the achievements of women. More work needs to be done on the implementation of a comprehensive approach on the institutions of justice, employment and education,” Jahjaga said. While Teuta Sahatqija, representative of Women Caucus said that the idea has been that women be empowered and not mentioned only on 8 March.

Rrahman Rama assumes duty as KSF commander (Telegrafi)

In an official ceremony on Wednesday, Rrahman Rama took over the position of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF). Kosovo’s President, Atifete Jahjaga, appreciated the work of the KSF, and encouraged them to work even harder in the future when the KSF would be transformed into Kosovo Armed Force (KAF), and aspires to join NATO. Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Isa Mustafa, said that the government he leads will fulfill all the tasks in order to transform the KSF into KAF, which would serve peace, security and fight against terrorism in the region.

Kosovo exodus concerns Swiss president (Swissinfo)

Swiss President Simonetta Sommaruga has expressed concern about continuing mass emigration from Kosovo during an official visit from Kosovan President Atifete Jahjaga.

“The republic needs its own young, qualified citizens,” Sommaruga said in Bern on Monday, pointing to the recent increase in asylum applications from citizens of Kosovo in a number of European countries.

She mentioned early elections, the lengthy and complicated process for formation of the government and the irregular migration as some of the difficult challenges Kosovo had to face this year. “Our growing pains have brought added pressures to the institutions of Kosovo and have added to the frustration of the citizens of Kosovo and its supporters abroad. Despite these downfalls, I have seen Kosovo rise stronger every time.
