U.S. praise the resumption of Pristina – Belgrade dialogue (Koha)

Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga, met on Thursday with United States Deputy Assistant Secretary, Hoyt Yee, with whom she discussed current developments in Kosovo, the normalization of relations with Serbia within the Pristina – Belgrade dialogue and Kosovo’s obligations towards the international community.

KSF to help Albania after the floods (Koha Ditore)

Kosovo government on Thursday approved the decision to send a contingent of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) for humanitarian operation in Albania, the country which is facing floods after heavy rain in the past days. The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, has announced that there is a request to send a unit of KSF in Albania to help prevent damage from floods.

Jahjaga: Kosovo does not have people to lose (Koha online)

The President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, visited today Vushtrri/Vucitrn, to initiate her campaign of raising awareness of the population on stopping the illegal emigration. Jahjaga discussed the issue with the mayor of this city, Bajram Mulaku, being that this municipality is considered to be the most affected by this occurrence. After the meeting, Jahjaga made a statement for the media and discussed with people who appeared to be enraged with the situation in Kosovo, requesting jobs and perspective in order not to leave Kosovo.

Kosovo women want 40 percent representation in government (Kosova Sot)

A group of women MPs handed over an amendment for constitutional changes to Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga, to increase the gender quota for women representation in the government. This amendment anticipates that 40 percent of the cabinet must be composed with women. Jahjaga said that women representation in the government is low and that is necessary to guarantee women’s participation in decision-making. The amendment was signed by 57 MPs from all the political entities, including the minority ones.

Koha Ditore’s Brussels based correspondent, Augustin Palokaj, writes that many officials in Brussels and other capitals make many statements and praise results reached by the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia. “One gets the impression that this dialogue not only resolved the vital issues for the people of Kosovo, but it also saved the world from the third world war. The bitter truth stands in the fact that this dialogue has resolved a few problems, however it caused more obscurity and illusions,” writes Palokaj.

The Pope refused Jahjaga! (Vesti online)

During a private visit to Vatican, Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga unsuccessfully tried to persuade Pope Francis to recognize the independence of Kosovo. During the meeting, which lasted 40 minutes, Jahjaga informed the Pope that Kosovo is now recognized by 108 countries and expressed hope that he supports "a vision of an independent Kosovo." She particularly emphasized gratitude to Vatican for “the role it had in difficult times for Kosovo”. 

Italy to support Kosovo towards the EU (Koha)

The President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, was received today in Rome by the Acting President of the Republic of Italy, Mr. Pietro Grasso. Jahjaga and Grasso discussed the overall development in Kosovo and the region, as well as special emphasis was paid to the Kosovo’s European integration, the commitment on internal reforms, the rule of law and economic cooperation between Kosovo and Italy. Jahjaga highly praised the help that Italy has given and continues to give to Kosovo, especially the support provided through KFOR and EULEX.
