Implementation of the Brussels Agreement is one of the three areas for which Belgrade, as announced, will receive a positive assessment in the annual report of the European Commission, which should appear in the first half of October.  Due to mutual accusations of official Belgrade and Pristina, the fact that the elections on both sides swallowed nearly a year and a post-election political crisis in Kosovo and Metohija, the EC has lowered the criteria for the full implementation of the Brussels Agreement ( the constitutionality is assessed before the Constitutional Court of Serbia).

Xhavit Haliti, member of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, claims that based on the developments after the elections, the constitutive session of the Assembly was expected to fail and it did. This proved clearly and publicly that the democratic game of elections in Kosovo, a six year state, not recognized by five EU countries and not a member of the UN, it does not have for an objective consolidation, recognition and dignifying international presence, but taking over the power, without respecting the election results.

Columnist Lavdim Hamidi claims that due to the limited political power at the Assembly, failure to elect the Assembly Speaker and form the government, the leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Hashim Thaçi, is very much interested to lead Kosovo towards extraordinary elections in autumn. According to him, Thaci expects President of the Constitutional Court, Enver Hasani to help him reach his aim. If this happens, Hamidi says, then Thaci would definitely consider some other manners of communication with electorate and eventual political partners.

Isa Mustafa, leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), was elected as the new Assembly Speaker of Kosovo. 65 deputies (out of 82 present) voted for him at the session. His election took place despite the absence of deputies from the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), who had left the session in an attempt to make the election impossible. However, LDK deputies, as well as those from the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA), Vetevendosje movement, and parties representing ethnic minorities, were present.

Ministry of returns must exist in the new government (RTK2)

Outgoing Minister for Communities and Returns Dalibor Jevtic said that Serbs must fight for return and survival through the institutions. Jevtic believes that there will be no new elections, because it is not in the interest of the parties which became parliamentary parties after elections. "New elections would influence many processes and the daily lives of people. In that sense, I think we should move in the direction of solving these problems, whereas new elections would only create more problems.
