The whole Municipal Board of Independent Liberal Party (SLS) from Istok/Istog submitted resignation from all positions and membership in the party. This is the second municipal board that collectively left the party of outgoing Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Slobodan Petrovic, after Strpce/Shterpce Board did the same, one day ago. 

Vesna Maliković, member of the SLS Main Board, president of Istok/Istog municipal board Dragan Repanović, Deputy President and 12 members of municipal board, as well as all members of the party, which is 241 persons, had left the party. 

“All options are open and everything is still uncertain related to the majority of 61 votes in the Assembly, which is the number of votes required for the formation of the Government of Kosovo,” said adviser to Kosovo Prime Minister and member of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) Ardian Arifaj. He stressed that PDK is winner of these elections, so consequently the position of PM belongs to this party. 

The Central Election Commission (CEC) did not accept the appeal that the Progressive Democratic Party (PDS) filed after the announcement of the final results of parliamentary elections in Kosovo. 

A member of the Central Election Commission, Nenad Rikalo said that the appeal of the Serbian List, related to the distribution of mandates is not considered, because the Supreme Court and the Panel of Appeals noted that it is not within their job description. 

Rikalo said that at the extraordinary session of the Central Election Commission were certified results of early parliamentary elections, held on 8 June. According to the results, the number and distribution of seats in the Kosovo Assembly was unchanged, compared to the results published before the appeal. 

Certification of election results could be done today once the legal timeframe for the Supreme Court to review all complaints ends, said the head of Central Election Commission (CEC), Valdete Daka.

The Supreme Court has not yet reached its decision on various complaints it has received and has a 72-hour period to do so. Daka said the CEC will certify election results as soon as the Court reviews all complaints.

The front page editorial of this daily writes that almost a month has passed since the general elections were held, and the results of the elections have not been certified yet. Central Election Commission continues making statements for a regular election process however delay of the results speaks about a clumsy one. This daily considers that politicians are also to be blamed for the delays, since they failed to complete the elections reform in two years.

According to Lavdim Hamidi, whenever the outgoing Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi faces difficulties, he uses millions from the budget of Kosovo for political benefits. “This is how he acted on the verge of 8 June elections when he increased salaries of public servants, pensions, an made many other promises only to obtain more votes for his party,” he writes adding that in this manner Thaçi compensated party’s loss after Fatmir Limaj, Jakup Krasniqi and many others left PDK.

According to the front-page editorial of this daily, the decision of the Constitutional Court explains clearly that the winning coalition, in this case the Democratic Party of Kosovo and its partners, have the right to create the new government. Everyone, starting from the foreign Embassies to the ordinary citizens who determined the winner with their vote, request respect of the Constitutional Court verdict.

In the case of repeated elections in Kosovo, Serb representatives would have a better result. It could be proposed national and party list of candidates.

According to Milaim Shefkiu, these elections revealed the defects of the Constitution of Kosovo. He blames drafters of the Constitution for lack of professionalism, and gaps which leave space for different interpretations by analysts, jurists and political parties. Shefkiu suggests that the Constitution of Kosovo is a bad copy or adoption from other constitutions.
