Dacic meets with new head of UN Office in Belgrade (Tanjug)

Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic conferred on Monday with the newly-appointed head of the UN Office in Belgrade Simona-Mirela Miculescu.

During the first meeting, the cooperation with the UN Office in Belgrade so far has been qualified as positive and the officials expressed the belief that it would continue and develop even more intensely in the time to come, the Ministry released.

Serbia’s Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic has sent a letter to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon saying that Kosovo’s request to become a member of UNESCO is unacceptable under international law, Serbian public broadcaster RTS reported on Sunday.

“Kosovo, as a territory under the UN’s administration, in line with the current and binding UN [Security Council] resolution 1244, cannot be considered a state subject to international law, and thereby it cannot qualify for admission into UNESCO,” RTS cited Dacic as saying in his letter.

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic said Sunday that Serbia will do everything in its power to keep Kosovo from becoming a member of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Dacic told the Belgrade-based daily Kurir that Kosovo's bid to join UNESCO is a distortion of the latest agreement reached by Belgrade and Pristina in Brussels.

Serbian Minister for Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic said to Radio Television of Serbia that it is not known, for the time being, when will the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina resume, however it is obvious that the break won’t be long as expected, since our negotiations over the membership depend on the dialogue.

Dacic reminded that it is clear that Pristina is responsible for not reaching the agreement, since there was no will on its side to make a shift forward.

No special court, no reconciliation (RTS)

Minister for Foreign Affairs of Serbia Ivica Dacic today stated that he is not expecting that creation of the special court for war crimes committed by the Kosovo Liberation Army will go without problems, and stressed that its establishment is very important for Serbia.

“It is one of the central issues for us, no reconciliation will take place without shedding light on those who committed crimes,” said Dacic for Radio Television Serbia.
