Thaci: Final deal to include mutual recognition (BETA, B92)

Hashim Thaci says a final agreement with Belgrade would include mutual recognition, and "Kosovo's Membership in EU, NATO, and the UN.

In an interview with Beta, the Kosovo president said that the outcome of a final and binding agreement on the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia would be mutual recognition, Kosovo's membership in the EU, NATO and the UN and Serbia's progress on its EU path.

Speaking about a meeting with the U.S. president's envoy, Senator Ron Johnson, Thaci said Washington fully backed the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.

Vucic: No solution without US, Germany, and Russia (BETA, Tanjug, B92)

President Aleksandar Vucic met on Monday in Belgrade with Ron Johnson, a US Senator who chairs the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

The president said that he also talked with the US senator about the improvement of bilateral cooperation between Serbia and the United States, and informed him and the situation in Kosovo.

Responding to journalists' questions about reaching an agreement between Belgrade and Pristina, Vucic said:

Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic spoke yesterday in Belgrade with US Senator and the Chair of the US Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Ron Johnson.

According to the Serbian Government, they spoke about "a European future of Serbia, the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina and regional stability."

Brnabic "expressed her gratitude to Johnson for a constructive US approach to finding a lasting and sustainable solution for Kosovo and Metohija, through the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina."

Samardzic: Kosovo issue to return to United Nations (Danas, FoNet)

Frozen conflict in Kosovo at this moment is a better solution, since an agreement on normalization of relations would encompass swift and hasty measures and would in fact represent a legal act on the recognition of Kosovo, former Minister for Kosovo and Metohija and Faculty of Political Sciences in Belgrade Professor, Slobodan Samardzic told FoNet news agency.

According to Samardzic hasty reached agreement can not resolve conflict that lasts more than 120 years, adding that the entire process in reaching a compromise seeks time to inform the public about it.

Mogherini: There are still difficulties, next meeting to follow soon (Tanjug, RTS)

EU High Representative, Federica Mogherini said today, after separate meetings with Serbian and Kosovo presidents, Aleksandar Vucic and Hashim Thaci, that there are still difficulties, while the next high-level meeting would be scheduled prior to the Ministerial week of the UN General Assembly in New York, Tanjug news agency reported.

Mogherini added she is convinced in the full commitment of the both presidents to continue negotiation process and reach in the forthcoming months legally binding agreement on comprehensive normalization of relations in line with international law.

Now Americans won't allow UNSC sessions on Kosovo? (Vecernje Novosti, B92)

The situation in Kosovo and Metohija will not be discussed at the UN Security Council in September.

This will not happen because the US, which this month presides over this body of the world organization, did not include the report of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in the agenda, Belgrade-based daily Vecernje Novosti reported.

Liberals and Democrats in the EP against changing the borders of Kosovo (N1)

A parliamentary group in the European Parliament, the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE), welcomed the efforts of Belgrade and Pristina to establish a normalization of relations, but at the same time expressed concern about the possibility of border correction and the exchange of territories, reports regional broadcaster N1.

ALDE deputy group leader Guy Verhofstadt said reconciliation, peace and stability in the Western Balkans must remain a priority for all actors in the region.

Dacic: To seriously consider every option offered for Kosovo (BETA, TV N1)

Serbian Foreign Affairs Minister Ivica Dacic said the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue is in its crucial phase and that every offered option for Kosovo should be seriously considered, TV N1 reported.

Dacic made these remarks at an informal gathering of the foreign affairs ministers within the South-East European Cooperation Process taking place in Banja Luka, adding that Serbia showcased readiness for compromise and constructive proposals, in order to reach mutually acceptable, sustainable and long-term solution.

BiH Presidency Member from Republika Srpska (RS) Mladen Ivanic says today that that he is not dissatisfied at all, as far as he is concerned, that Kosovo Foreign Minister Behgjet Pacolli did not come to Banja Luka to an informal meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the South East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), reports Serbian media.

Participants in the process of co-operation have been identified by members of the SEECP, and adds that Pristina has been a member of this process since 2014, along with, as he points out, the consent of all.
