The presidency of the Parliament of Kosovo decided today, after receiving a majority of votes, to include the draft law on elections in the parliament’s agenda for Thursday, 27 March. The vote on this draft law will pave the way to setting the date for parliamentary elections.

Parliamentary Speaker Jakup Krasniqi, however, said that this cannot be called election reform. “But some technical changes have been made to correct the weaknesses of the election process,” Krasniqi told reporters.

Kosovapress quotes Krasniqi saying that the law on war veterans can be discussed in next week’s session of Parliament if the respective committees are ready to meet their obligations. Krasniqi denied criticism that the Parliament has delayed the law, saying that it has in fact accelerated procedures related to the bill.

LDK parliamentary group chief Ismet Beqiri told reporters that it is obvious that Prime Minister Thaci was campaigning for the law on war veterans. “Despite this, LDK MPs will vote on the law in order to improve the lives of citizens,” he added.

Telegrafi reports that members of parliament will not discuss the draft law on war veterans on Thursday.
