Mitrovica mayor Agim Bahtiri met today with residents of Kroi i Vitakut in Mitrovica North to discuss their problems, with special emphasis on the reconstruction of houses with funds gathered through the humanitarian action “You should help too”.

Nazmi Ismajli, neighbourhood representative, described the grave situation of Albanian residents and stressed the need for greater cooperation with Mitrovica. “Many houses in Kroi i Vitakut have yet to be rebuilt. We don’t know why they are not being rebuilt, but we seek your assistance,” he said.

Neighborhood representatives outlined numerous problems with the reconstruction of their houses, which were destroyed before, during and after the conflict by Serb extremists.

Mitrovica mayor Bahtiri said he would come to the aid of residents. He said a tender for the reconstruction of six houses was recently announced and that he would personally manage the reconstruction of houses. “We will rebuild these six houses. I will personally follow the reconstruction process and I will make sure that the work is done,” Bahtiri added.
