Officials from the Anti-Corruption Agency announced findings that corruption has increased in Kosovo during the last year. They also said the Agency has filed 128 criminal lawsuits in 2013 relating to corruption.

Hasan Preteni, Agency’s director, said that compared to 2012, the number of officials investigated for corruption has increased in 2013. He said there are ministers, deputy ministers, MPs, public enterprise officials, prosecutors and judges who are believed to be involved in corruption but did not reveal any names as this is not legally permitted until they face actual indictments.

Preteni expressed concern with the poor performance of Kosovo prosecutions and courts. He said he was disappointed with the way the local judiciary has tackled cases that the Anti-Corruption Agency submits to them.
