Serb telecom operator “MTS’ D.O.O” is expected to put up antennas in 30 locations across Kosovo and will be able to issue 60,000 numbers in the market as part of the telecommunications agreement reached between Pristina and Belgrade delegations in Brussels. The operating license for the Serb operator was issued by the Authority of Electronic and Postal Communications (RAEPC) right after Kosovo was granted a dialing prefix by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), said RAEPC board chairman Kreshnik Gashi.

A deal on carrying out a Belgrade-Pristina agreement on telecommunications was confirmed in Brussels Friday after three days of discussions, with all details of the implementation coordinated.

Milovan Drecun confirmed on Friday that representatives of Pristina this week attempted to introduce changes to the agreement on telecommunications.

The agreement was reached in Brussels last Sunday, during the EU-sponsored Kosovo dialogue.

Agreement on telecommunications, which was recently signed in Brussels, will contribute to the division of Albanians and Serbs in Kosovo, says the former director of the Telecommunications Regulatory Agency Anton Berisha.

Kosovo Assembly MP from the  Vetëvendosje movement, Glauk Konjufca, said that the Brussels agreement makes Kosovo only a user of a telephone code and not an owner. According to him, it is clear that Serbia will be the owner of the prefix, while Kosovo will only use it. “Legalization of Serbian operator in Kosovo does not appear to be as the government claims, and this makes the agreement unacceptable,” Konjufca said.
