Tear gas fired as Kosovo police arrest Serbian official (Associated Press, The Independent)

Tensions have risen between the two neighbours, who fought a bloody war in the late 1990s.

Kosovo police have fired tear gas and stun grenades at protesters as they arrested a Serb official after he was banned from visiting a divided town in northern Kosovo, according to reports.

It is a move likely to inflame tensions between the two foes, who fought a brutal war in 1999.

Serbia’s government quickly announced that the country’s state security council would hold an emergency meeting.

Kosovo Police confirmed to BIRN on Monday that Marko Djuric, head of the Serbian government’s Kosovo office, had been arrested on Monday for illegal entry and transferred to Pristina by the Specialized Operational Unit of Kosovo Police.

Kosovo Police banned the Minister of Culture and Information Vladan Vukosavljevic to enter Kosovo at around 11.20 am today, at the administrative crossing Jarinje, the correspondent of TV Most reports today.

TV Most reports that Vukosavljevic has been denied entry to Kosovo at the crossing Jarinje although his visit was duly announced.

Pristina deploys police to deny Belgrade officials entry (B92, N1, Kossev)

The deputy commander of Kosovo police in the north has denied that a special unit, "Rosu," had been deployed to this area, KoSSev website is reporting Monday.

According to Besim Hoti, an intervention police unit from the same region was sent to carry out "the operative plan" to ban the planned arrival of several Serbian officials to the territory of the self-proclaimed state.

House in Odanovce village, Kamenica municipality stoned (KIM Radio)

House of Dejan Dimitrijevic, in the village of Odanovce, Kamenica municipality was stoned on Sunday evening around 21.30 hrs KIM Radio reports today. No injuries reported, however material damages are caused.

Dejan Dimitrijevic told RTV KIM that apart from his family, his sister and her family as well as friends with three children were in the house at the moment of attack.

Serb returnee in Klina arrested (Kontakt plus radio)

Milorad Zajic (1949) was arrested yesterday at the police station in Klina, when he came at the invitation of the Kosovo police to take over households items stolen from him,  reported Kontakt plus radio, quoting Radio Gorazdevac.

Zajic is a returnee since 2008, according to Radio Gorazdevac and he is currently in custody in Pristina.

Rako Kostic, a clerk in the municipality of Klina, has confirmed that the returnee was arrested.

Recordings from March 2004 were seized at the Jarinje crossing - "Encouragement of religious or ethnic hatred"? (Kossev)

Two hundred twenty-two discs (CDs) were seized yesterday at the Jarinje crossing. They were found during a control of the vehicle, by which three persons of Serb ethnicity were traveling, announced the Kosovo Police, reports Kossev.

According to the 24-hour Kosovo Police report, according to the words of the three men where discs were found - these discs had footage of March 2004 events. By the order of the prosecutor, as the report states further, entry to Kosovo was banned for the three men, reports Kossev.

Bojic: North of Kosovo calm and stable (Kontakt plus radio)

Chief of the Regional Police Operations in Mitrovica North, Zeljko Bojic told Kontakt plus radio that the security situation in the northern municipalities is stable and calm.

Bojic noted that 95 serious crime cases were registered in the north of Kosovo in 2017, and out of this number, 71 cases are resolved, which makes almost 75 percent. Regional investigative unit dealt with these cases.
