Drecun: Pristina uses election to annul Serb majority will and additionaly raises tension (RTS, N1, Beta)

The head of the Parliamentary Committee for Kosovo Milovan Drecun said the decision to call local elections in the north of Kosovo was Pristina’s intention to void the majority's will of the Serbs and “to install” individuals from the Serb nation, the Beta news agency reported on Wednesday.

Speaking to the public service Radio Television of Serbia (RTS), Drecun said that “the situation among the Serbs could be complicated after this election and Pristina could use that as an excuse to intervene.”

After Albanian soldiers toured Mitrovica North couple of days ago and the announcement that several hundreds of them would be deployed to the north of Kosovo, Chairperson of the Serbian National Assembly Committee for Kosovo and Metohija Milovan Drecun said it represents an endangerment of the security of Serbian people there.

Drecun told TV Pink he has no confirmation that several hundreds of Albanian soldiers would be deployed as part of KFOR, however he did not exclude possibility of that to happen.

After the British government sent a warning to its citizens not to travel to municipalities in the north of Kosovo due to risks of security incidents, thus causing intense reactions in the public, the UK government in Pristina issued a statement that the British embassy ''advised against all but essential travel to the northern municipalities for several years, due to a number of recent violent incidents linked to organised crime in northern Kosovo. ''

Drecun: Washington's offer will not be on the table for long (Serbian media)

Serbia should use the maneuvering space that Washington opened with the arrival of the Donald Tramp administration, and find a different solution than what the Germans, the British and the Albanians want, says the chairman of the Assembly's Committee for KiM, Milovan Drecun to Belgrade based TV Pink.

Drecun: London’s warning political maneuver (Tanjug, Dnevnik)

A warning London has sent to the British citizens saying they should not travel to the north of Kosovo resembles more a political maneuvre that has something else in its background, and not security threats, interlocutors told Tanjug news agency. They also noted if British services have such information, they should share it with Belgrade, Pristina and KFOR.

"A joint exercise by the Albanian army and the so-called KSF in Kosovo and Metohija is intended to intimidate the Serb people," Milovan Drecun said.

And these are preparations for a possible provoking of violence in the north of Kosovo and Metohija (KiM), the chair of the Serbian National Assembly Committee for Kosovo and Metohija added.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said on Sunday that if NATO is not able to protect the Serb people in the southern province, the Republic of Serbia will do so. Drecun: Serbia will not leave its people at Pristina’s merciless (RTS)

Chairman of the Serbian National Assembly Committee for Kosovo and Metohija, Milovan Drecun told RTS that in a case of a massive violence taking place in Kosovo, and if KFOR can not or does not want to react, Serbia would not leave its people at Pristina’s merciless.

Speaking for the RTS news edition, Drecun also assessed the statement of EU High Representative Federica Mogherini that the final agreement between Belgrade and Pristina must be in line with international law, but also get support of the UN Security Council “as very significant.”

Drecun: We are not setting barriers (RTS, Tanjug)

There is no solution for Kosovo without Serbia, and if someone thinks that eventual unification of Kosovo and Albania and creation of “Great Albania” could resolve this problem, that one is in illusion, Chairperson of the Serbian National Assembly Committee for Kosovo and Metohija Milovan Drecun told RTS.

“That would neither be peaceful nor sustainable solution, and it would not help stabilize the region. It is in full contradiction to all of that,” Drecun said for the RTS morning program.

Drecun: US must completely clarify its position (BETA, RTS, B92)

The position of Russia and China, as well as of the US and Germany, regarding Kosovo, is completely clear and unambiguous, Chairperson of the Serbian Assembly Committee for Kosovo and Metohija Milovan Drecun said, adding it is also necessary that the US fully clarifies its position, BETA news agency reported.

Drecun told RTS over the weekend that the US position on Kosovo is crucial - "whether they want a compromise solution or will continue pressure on Belgrade to recognize Kosovo."
