LDK and Vetevendosje oppose PM’s pay raise decision (Koha)

The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) and Vetevendosje have asked the government of Kosovo to urgently annul decision on increasing salaries for the cabinet members. Head of LDK parliamentary group, Avdullah Hoti, said the decision was in violation to the applicable laws in Kosovo and furthermore presents an open case of conflict of interest. “This decision is unacceptable as it creates a huge gap with discriminatory elements between the incomes of different society groups and those of the officials of the government,” Hoti said.

Thaci urges MPs to ratify border demarcation deal (Koha)

President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, has urged MPs to vote in favour of the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro. In a Facebook post, Thaci said the pro-vote would break Kosovo’s isolation for good and set a new momentum for Kosovo’s European integration. “The vote for ratification of demarcation is a vote for the citizens’ freedom of movement in the Schengen area, it is a vote for Kosovo in Europe. I therefore call on all parties to respect the will of all citizens, regardless of ethnic and religious background, to move freely.

AKR: Demarcation agreement, reconfirmation of strong Kosovo-Montenegro ties (Koha)

Behgjet Pacolli’s New Kosovo Alliance (AKR) hailed the statement signed by Kosovo and Montenegro presidents on border demarcation. “New Kosovo Alliance strongly supports the progress on the issue and urged the two sides to act swiftly in fully implementing the agreement, along with its annex,” AKR said in a statement.  At the same time, AKR called on all political parties in Kosovo to look forward towards European integration that begins with visa liberalisation for the people of Kosovo.

Head of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) parliamentary group, Avdullah Hoti, said the current government of Kosovo led by Ramush Haradinaj has “broken records in degradation of state institutions”. Speaking at a press conference today, Hoti said that the first 100 days of the government have been characterized by unlawful decisions and scandals. “We have seen a government with an enormous number of deputy ministers. We have a minister that is accused of torture and another of using a firearm.

Prizren mosque holds prayer for Turkish intervention in Syria (Klan Kosova/Koha)

Klan Kosova reports that a prayer was held in the Sinan Pasha Mosque in Prizren in favour of the Turkish military operation against Kurds in Syria. Present in the prayer was also the Turkish Ambassador to Kosovo, Kivilcim Kilic, Turkish general consul in Prizren, Eylem Altunya, members of Turkish army part of KFOR, as well as local residents.

EULEX asked to step up pressure on Serbia regarding missing persons (Telegrafi/Koha)

Advisor to Prime Minister of Kosovo on missing persons, Jahja Lluka, met today officials from the Kosovo’s Forensic Institute and also discussed their presence in the process for determining the fate of missing persons. Director of the institute, Arsim Gerxhaliu, and EULEX forensic anthropologist, Tarja Formisto, spoke about their joint work while Lluka expressed the support of the Kosovo institutions in determining the fate of missing persons.

Draft law on demarcation proceeded to the Assembly Presidency (Koha)

Kosovo’s Assembly committee for foreign affairs, Diaspora and Strategic Investments has preceded to the Assembly the draft law on demarcation of the border with Montenegro, without a recommendation on whether to vote for or against it.

It remains to the presidency to decide when to put the demarcation issue in the agenda of Assembly sessions.
