Maric: Everyone has the right to choose the passport (Kim radio)

When asked whether Kosovo Serbs should have a Kosovo passport, or wait visa liberalization for the passports of Coordination Directorate, Minister Ljubomir Maric said that the international community will not allow such division.  "Everyone should have the right to choose. If Kosovo passports will get visa-free regime, I don’t see any reason why the passports issued by the Coordination Directorate would be an exception. That would be a negative message to the citizens who live in Kosovo and have passports of the Republic of Serbia," said Maric.

Lunacek: Kosovo and Serbia to implement agreements (RTK/Zeri)

European Parliament Vice President and Rapporteur for Kosovo, Ulrike Lunacek, told the European Western Balkans web portal that the future of Kosovo and Serbia is closely intertwined and that Kosovo’s European fate strongly correlates with Serbia’s advancement and vice-versa. She said the green light for visa liberalization for the citizens of Kosovo creates a very good momentum and has to be utilized.

Mustafa commends municipalities for their work on implementing visa liberalization criteria (Zeri)

Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, praised the municipalities in doing a good job on meeting the visa liberalization criteria. Speaking about the local governance for the next ten years, Mustafa said that the overriding objective will be to bring it closer to the people. Mustafa also said that the government is trying to implement a more advanced system of local government whose results can be expected during the ten-year period. Mustafa made the comments at a conference on the local government strategic orientations 2016-2026.

Vucic: We will solve the problem with the passports in Kosovo (Kim radio)

Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said today that the problem with the passports of the Serbian citizens residing in Kosovo and possibility to travel without visas will soon be resolved. When answering to the reporters' questions Vucic said that the state will solve that problem and pointed out that it will be resolved in accordance with the interests of Serbian people. "They still cannot travel with the passports issued by the European Union in Kosovo, because passports will be issued in three or four months.

Veseli said that the developments with the border demarcation will not threaten Kosovo's visa liberalization process and that decisions on the matter will be made in line with Kosovo's interests. "This issue is not on our agenda yet. By the moment it is part of our agenda, we will discuss with our colleagues from the opposition, so that we can move forward together in the Assembly.

Mustafa and Veseli discuss the ruling coalition (Insajderi)

Kosovo's Prime Minister Isa Mustafa and Assembly President Kadri Veseli, met today to discuss the ruling coalition led by their respective parties, the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) and the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK). The Assembly issued a media communique after the meeting noting that discussions focused on the current developments, with special emphasis on the visa liberalization process.

President of the European Movement in Kosovo Rada Trajkovic appealed to the Serbian authorities to begin issuing the "valid passports" to the Serbs residing in Kosovo. "The Serbian state put the Serbian community in Kosovo in a position to choose between Serbia and Schengen through its unconstitutional decision to issue passports of the Coordination Center to the Serbs residing in Kosovo.

Hyseni: Kosovo Serbs should get Kosovo’s biometric passports (Telegrafi)

Minister of Interior Affairs, Skender Hyseni, called on Kosovo Serbs today to get Kosovo’s biometric passports in order to be able to travel visa free in the Schengen Zone after Kosovo gets visa liberalization. “After all this is a travel document and there is no technical or political obstacle for the Serb citizens of the Republic of Kosovo to be equipped with biometric passports. They need to get the biometric passports of the Republic of Kosovo,” Hyseni told Radio Free Europe.

Deda: Visa liberalization for Kosovo, late but deserved (Zeri)

Kosovo MP and former member of Vetevendosje Ilir Deda said in an interview for the paper that the European Commission’s recommendation for visa liberalization is late but at the same time is well-deserved. “It is important that our people, Kosovo, will no longer be a ghetto in the Western Balkans and it is important to have the fundamental right to free movement as dignified citizens of Europe”, said Deda adding that no one is interested of who did or did not take credit for visa liberalization and that all that matters is the end result.
