The opposition parties in Kosovo, the Vetevendosje Movement, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) and Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA) have not welcomed a proposal by Kosovo’s Minister for Dialogue, Edita Tahiri, to have a “Unity Team” for the third round of talks with Belgrade. Vetevendosje and NISMA officials are claiming that Tahiri’s proposal implies new concessions vis-à-vis Serbia, while the AAK believes that the format of talks is more important than the representation.

The President of the Assembly of Kosovo spoke today during a  visit to the children who are following education programs for democracy, about the visit of the Deputy Prime Minister Branimir Stojanović in Brussels. Stojanović is meeting European Union officials and discussing Trepca Law endorsed by Kosovo Assembly on 8 October. Based on Serbian media, he is considering this Law to be harmful. However, Veseli did not seem concerned about these meetings. “Trepca issue is over.

Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister from the Serbian List, Branimir Stojanovic, warned that the Serb MPs could decide to boycott the work of the Kosovo Assembly. In an urgent meeting of the northern Kosovo’s predominantly Serb municipalities, Stojanovic said the draft law on revitalisation of the Trepca mine is unacceptable and political.

Despite the continuous statements of the government officials that they have the votes of the Serbian List for the agreement on demarcation of the border between Kosovo and Montenegro, representatives of this party state the opposite. Nenad Rasić, Kosovo MP from the Serbian List, said that Kosovo Prime Minister Isa Mustafa’s claims and those of the government spokesperson Faton Abdullahu that the Serbian List would vote the demarcation, are not true. “This is not true,” Rasić said not wanting to comment the matter further.

The President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, spoke from Tirana about the arrest of the Kosovo Police regional director, Nehat Thaçi, by Serbian authorities.

Thaçi said that Kosovo cannot respond to the arrests with arrests and to violence with violence. He added that Kosovo institutions are coordinating with international authorities in order to resolve this matter as soon as possible.

The news site reports that the President of Kosovo Hashim Thaçi is visiting northern Kosovo today and that he currently is in Jarinje border-crossing point. The news site also notes that this is the first time a president of Kosovo is visiting the northern border-crossing points. Thaçi’s political advisor, Ardian Arifaj, confirmed the news to Klan Kosova. “President Thaçi today visited Jarinje border-crossing point,” Arifaj said.

Pristina-based news website Lajmi reports that six activists of the Vetevendosje Movement, have been arrested today over recent violent acts, such as the throwing bombs at the Kosovo Assembly and the Radio Television of Kosovo. Vetevendosje spokesman Frasher Krasniqi is also believed to be among those arrested. According to the news website, relatives of Vetevendosje leader Visar Ymeri are also among those arrested. They were reportedly found with arms and ammunition.

Kosovo’s chief prosecutor, Aleksander Lumezi, while commenting on Turkish embassy's request to arrest and punish journalist Berat Buzhala, said on Wednesday that  the prosecution acts according to the laws and regulations in place in Kosovo. “We will take action in accordance with the law if there were any offences in this case. From what I have seen, Buzhala did not make any criminal offence,” Lumezi said.

Kosovo’s Justice Minister, Dhurata Hoxha, met on Tuesday the president of the Kosovo Judicial Council (KJC), Nehat Idrizi. Hoxha and Idrizi stated that the integration of the judicial system in northern Kosovo will happen soon, despite the challenges that may arise during the process. Hoxha stated the ministry will fully support the KJC to increase the efficiency of the judiciary throughout Kosovo. “We as ministry will work closely with the KJC and will help in making the necessary reforms to increase the efficiency of the judiciary.

Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister, Hajredin Kuçi, said on Wednesday that in the coming days there will be intensive meetings of the political spectrum to discuss the border-demarcation agreement with Montenegro. According to him, issues of national importance such as demarcation, must overcome the political differences. However, when asked whether the coalition between the Democratic Party of Kosovo and Democratic League of Kosovo is in crisis, Kuci said there is no crisis in the ruling-coalition.
