Blic: Interpol warrants for Kosovo president, PM to be restored (B92)

The names of Kosovo PM and president Ramush Haradinaj and Hashim Thaci will soon be back on Interpol red notices, Belgrade-based daily Blic reported on Friday.

According to unofficial information Blic said it learned, Serbia's appeal against the removal of theirs, and another 20 names of former leaders of the so-called Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) from the Interpol system will be accepted, and adopted in the coming weeks.

Two former KLA fighters remain on Interpol’s wanted list (Insajderi)

The news website reports that although Kosovo’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Flamur Sefaj, said this week that Interpol has confirmed lifting arrest warrants for former Kosovo Liberation Army fighters, wanted by Serbia, there are two more that are still on the list of wanted persons. Sources told Insajderi that former KLA members, Ramiz Qeriqi and Genc Zogaj, are still on Interpol’s wanted list as Serbia has charged them with war crimes.

Interpol's removal of warrants for KLA leaders appealed (Vecernje Novosti, Tanjug, B92)

The Serbian Interior Ministry (MUP) has filed an appeal to the Interpol Executive Committee after the organization removed red notices for KLA commanders.

These persons, former members of the KLA ("Kosovo Liberation Army") are wanted by Serbia on charges of war crimes.

"In coordination with other institutions, immediately after learning that several war crimes warrants had been deleted from the Interpol system, we filed an appeal over of this act," MUP sources told Belgrade daily Vecernje Novosti.

Serbian media have covered the statement of UNMIK, about recent reactions and media reports regarding UNMIK’s role in relation to INTERPOL’s recent decision and functions.

The media are quoting the statement that was sent by UNMIK spokeswoman Sanam Dolatshahi to Tanjug as a response to the agency's question asking who gave the permission to UNMIK to seek removal of the indictment against Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, whom Serbia has charged for war crimes.

Interpol has two new members: Palestine and Solomon Islands (B92, Tanjug, AFP)

Interpol has accepted the application of the Palestinian authorities to join the international police organization.

This happened despite Israel's fierce opposition, AFP reported on Wednesday.

Solomon Islands also joined the organization, Interpol - that now has 192 members - announced on Twitter, Tanjug is reporting.

McAllister: Brussels appreciates the constructive efforts of Serbia (Blic, B92, KIM radio)

The EP rapporteur for Serbia welcomed the initiative to launch an internal dialogue on Kosovo and added that Serbia's constructive approach is highly appreciated in Brussels, KIM radio reported McAllister’s statement to the daily newspapers Blic.

"Yes, I welcome the initiative of President Aleksandar Vučić to launch a domestic dialogue on this issue," David McAllister told daily Blic.

Pacolli: Kosovo has enough votes for UNESCO but could postpone its Interpol bid (Koha)

Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Behgjet Pacolli, said Kosovo has managed to secure enough votes to gain membership in UNESCO. He said that in meetings with foreign diplomats in the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, the Kosovo delegation has secured the necessary votes for UNESCO although he admitted that Kosovo would still need to adopt two pieces of legislation regarding religious equality.

US pushing hard to make Kosovo Interpol member (Vecernje Novosti, B92)

Ahead of the Interpol General Assembly that will start on September 26, the US is "mustering all forces" to make Pristina a new member of the organization.

The Belgrade-based daily Vecernje Novosti reported this, adding that the host of this year's assembly is China, and that in Beijing, Belgrade's arguments on this issue will be defended by a delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic.
