PDK meets non-Serb communities (Kosovapress)

Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) parliamentary group is holding a meeting with non-Serb communities represented in the Kosovo Assembly. PDK leader Hashim Thaci did not make any statements after the meeting but the 6+ parliamentary group confirmed that it will support the PDK candidate for Assembly speaker during tomorrow’s session. The announcement was made by the head of the group, Mahir Jagcilar.

Mustafa: Prime minister to lead the dialogue (Kosovapress)

Leader of Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Isa Mustafa said that the agreement between LDK, AAK, NISMA and Vetevendosje confirms commitment and responsibility of all parties to the dialogue process. “The dialogue will be led by the prime minister of the country, respectively the dialogue will be on the basis of reciprocity. Members of the coalition will have specific responsibilities in the dialogue but no one should imply the dialogue will be led on political party basis.

Civil Protection members beat up two Albanian youths in Mitrovica North (Kosovapress)

Sources told the news agency that two young Albanians were beaten up on Wednesday evening by members of the so-called Civil Protection in Mitrovica North. According to sources, the two youths had crossed the main bridge over Ibar River when they were attacked by six-seven members of the Civil Protection.

One month detention for terrorist suspects (Kosovapress)

The Basic Court of Kosovo announced today a 30-day detention measure against forty people suspected of participating in fighting in Syria and Iraq alongside terrorist organizations ISIS and Al-Nusra. A defense attorney told reporters that this is bad news for Kosovo’s image because the court failed to secure evidence that would confirm the alleged activities of the suspects. The attorney said this also confirms the failure of security institutions in Kosovo to prevent such activities.

Kosovo Government supports arrest of those who threaten national security (Kosovapress)

Government of Kosovo strongly supports the operation undertaken, at the national level, by the Kosovo Police in coordination with the State Prosecution to arrest extremist elements who by their actions have threatened Kosovo’s national security and constitutional order.

Haradinaj: Outgoing Government’s decisions are unconstitutional (Kosovapress)

The three-party bloc had a meeting today at the offices of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) parliamentary group and discussed the institutional vacuum and the programme it would implement if it forms the new Government.

LDK leader, Isa Mustafa, said they discussed the decisions that the outgoing Government is taking and added that they consider them to be unconstitutional.

Excavations in Rudnica to resume on Thursday (Kosovapress)

Excavations in Rudnica of Raska, stopped by the Serbian side on 3 July, will resume this Thursday at 12:00. The news was confirmed by the head of the Kosovo Government’s commission on missing persons, Prenk Gjetaj.

In an interview, Gjetaj also spoke about the anticipated agreement with the Serbian side regarding handing over of mortal remains. It is not yet certain whether the agreement will be reached. Gjetaj said that the Kosovo side is ready to work towards determining the fate of missing persons.

Djuric lunches in Pristina (Kosovapress)

Director of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo, Marko Djuric, met today Serbia’s liaison officer in Kosovo, Dejan Pavicevic, with whom he discussed implementation of projects important for ‘the two communities’.

“We spoke about how to unify existing economic potential and together with representatives of provisional institutions to work on projects that would be of importance for the two communities”, said Djuric after a meeting at the EU Office in Pristina.

O’Reilly: No organ trafficking allegations (Kosovapress)

The world-renowned war crimes lawyers, Michael O’Reilly, told Radio Dukagjini that the report of the EU Special Investigative Task Force (SITF) lead prosecutor, Clint Williamson, is not expected to confirm organ trafficking allegations contained in the Council of Europe (CoE) report.

He said that since Williamson’s team failed to find evidence of organ trafficking, the indictment will be changed to only include war crimes. He warned however that an indictment of such nature would damage Kosovo’s international image.
