Investigations into privatization of KEK distribution network (Gazeta Blic)

Law enforcement authorities are investigating the privatization of the distribution and supply network of the Kosovo Power Corporation (KEK). Sources in the EU Rule of Law mission in Kosovo (EULEX), which confirmed the investigations, said considerable material has been collected and that concrete results are expected. “Investigations are on the right track,” the source said. Meanwhile, EULEX officials could not confirm the start of investigations. The website recalls that the distribution and supply network was privatized two years ago for €26.3 million.

Glauk Konjufca, one of the leaders of the Vetevendosje Movement, told Klan Kosova that Vetevendosje MPs did not vote for Isa Mustafa as Speaker of the Assembly because there is no agreement yet between the LDK-AAK-NISMA bloc and Vetevendosje. “Last night we reached a draft agreement which was supposed to be signed this morning. But today the opposition bloc changed its mind. The Vetevendosje Movement made it clear that the vote for the Assembly Speaker should be included in the agreement, but the latter was not achieved.

Isa Mustafa, leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), was elected as the new Assembly Speaker of Kosovo. 65 deputies (out of 82 present) voted for him at the session. His election took place despite the absence of deputies from the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), who had left the session in an attempt to make the election impossible. However, LDK deputies, as well as those from the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA), Vetevendosje movement, and parties representing ethnic minorities, were present.

Opposition bloc without agreement with Vetevendosje in the Assembly (Koha)

Ramush Haradinaj, leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), said today that President Atifete Jahjaga cannot interfere and ask the Constitutional Court to rule on the post of Assembly Speaker. “This situation is different from the candidate for Prime Minister and she cannot do this now. 40 MPs can now send this case to the Constitutional Court,” said Haradinaj, who is the opposition’s candidate for the post of prime minister. Haradinaj called on all political parties to show a political and democratic culture at tomorrow’s constitutive session of the Assembly.

Vetevendosje: Dialogue and privatization damaged Kosovo the most (Koha)

Vetevendosje leader Albin Kurti met today in Pristina with Swedish Ambassador for Albania, Kosovo and FYROM, Mats Staffansson. Kurti said after the meeting: “We have insisted on a written agreement with the AAK-LDK-NISMA coalition, because we don’t want to have the same governance that we had before. We believe that dialogue and privatization are the two processes that have damaged Kosovo the most; therefore, we want a different orientation. This is the best time to change this detrimental course”.

Haradinaj: No agreement with Vetevendosje yet (Gazeta Express/Koha)

Ramush Haradinaj, leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), told reporters in Pristina that an agreement between the opposition coalition and the Vetevendosje Movement has not been reached yet. Haradinaj said this after the opposition bloc met with representatives of non-Serb minorities. Haradinaj, the opposition’s candidate for the post of prime minister, said Vetevendosje representatives on Monday presented an additional annex to the draft agreement that sent the whole process to the beginning. He confirmed that a meeting with Vetevendosje leaders will be held this afternoon.

Opposition coalition fails to reach agreement with Vetevendosje (Koha)

No agreement was reached in today’s meeting between leaders of the Vetevendosje Movement, the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) and the Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA). Vetevendosje leader Albin Kurti said there have been setbacks from earlier agreements. “There is discordance from earlier positions of the Vetevendosje Movement and the LDK-AAK-NISMA coalition. These are mainly related to dialogue with Serbia, the process of privatization and other issues,” Kurti told reporters after the meeting.

Vetevendosje leader Albin Kurti, in an interview for Kosovapress, said the only question not included in the long list of queries that President Atifete Jahjaga sent to the Constitutional Court was “who is she really”. “The President prepared a long questionnaire that resembled a reporter sending questions for an interview to the president of the Constitutional Court. If someone reads those questions it will be hard to believe that they are coming from the president of a state.
