Mogherini, Dačić discuss Kosovo dialogue, Ukraine (B92, Tanjug,Blic)

Federica Mogherini hopes the Kosovo dialogue would quickly resume, and that the EU expects both sides to continue work to implement the Brussels agreement.

The EU foreign policy chief said in a statement after her meeting late on Tuesday in Brussels with Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dačić that she hoped the dialogue on normalization of relations between Belgrade and Priština will continue as soon as possible.

Under investigation 18 members of EULEX (KoSSev)

Special envoy from Brussels for the affair over corruption in EULEX will undergo investigation which will include as many as 18 people.

The EU High Representative Federica Mogherini has appointed an independent expert Jean-Paul Jacques for a special investigator in this case and he arrived to Kosovo. Sources in Brussels say that their work will include 18 key people in the European mission and the local special prosecutor's office.

Federica Mogherini, the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security, considers the visit of the Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama to Belgrade to be “a sign of positive change of the regional dialogue in Western Balkans.”

“The two day visit should represent a turning point in the relations between the two countries. We expect from both leaders to show a renewed determination and political courage, to look toward the future and rebuild relations after so many years,” said Mogherini, during her visit to Berlin.

A year has passed since the local elections in Kosovo; the authorities in municipalities with Serbian majority are not satisfied with the treatment of central Kosovo institutions. The government in Pristina reduces the budget from year to year, so often beside salaries for employees there is no funding for the development of Serbian communities.

During the last census in Kosovo, Serbs have been partially registered. By decreasing the number of inhabitants in the Serbian municipalities, the government in Pristina has reduced their budget.

Brussels based correspondent of this daily considers that it would have been good if the EU should learn a lesson from the recent scandals with EULEX. This would have been a benefit for the future of the European Union and its operations outside of its territory as much as for Kosovo. The EU should act as it usually sermonizes and prove zero tolerance against corruption, if required within EU, as it requests from Balkans countries.
