The Serbian Ministry of Interior (MUP) issued a statement late on Wednesday, following media reports that armed Albanians had stormed Kursumlija area villages.

As stated, the police station in Kursumlija received a report on Tuesday evening from workers in the area of the village of Rastelica that they had heard shooting "from the direction of the Autonomous Province (AP) of Kosovo and Metohija."

The Norwegian ambassador to Serbia Arne Sannes Bjørnstad said on Wednesday that Oslo would support any agreement between Serbia and Kosovo which would secure the respect of human rights and would be good for the regional stability, the Beta news agency reported.

Commenting on the media report that a deal between Belgrade and Pristina would be signed in June, the envoy said he doubted “the story was true.”

Pentagon spokesman Eric Pahon says the US is worried about "Russia's meddling in the Euro-Atlantic aspirations of the Western Balkans."

"Russia seeks to derail Euro-Atlantic perspective of the countries such as North Macedonia and Montenegro through the aggressive approach and deterrence," Pahon told Podgorica-based daily Pobjeda.
He added that the US "see North Macedonia and Montenegro are willing to choose freedom and success and everything that the West can offer."

The current situation in the European Union does not allow enlargement under the satisfactory condition, Nathalie Loiseau, French Minister for European Affairs said ahead of her visit to Belgrade, the Beta news agency reported on Monday.

She said the May election would be crucial for the future of the EU.

Commenting on Serbia’s Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic statement that the demarcation with Pristina was Belgrade's official idea, Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zaharova said Moscow had not changed its policy towards Kosovo, the Beta news agency reported on Wednesday.

“Our position hasn't changed, “ she said, without elaborating.

Donald Trump, the US President, told Zoran Zaev, North Macedonia's Prime Minister, that his deal with Greece on the country’s new name was the greatest achievement in the Balkans since the 1995 Dayton Agreement which ended the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Beta news agency reported.

A former Serbian ambassador to UNESCO said on Thursday that Pristina has less chance of joining that organization than it did two years ago.

Ambassador Darko Tanaskovic told Belgrade based daily Danas that there is no certainty that Kosovo would apply to join the UNESCO this year as some officials in Pristina have said.

“That depends on Pristina’s assessment and the views of its sponsors in the international community,” he said.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov asked the EU’s Federica Mogherini on the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue and she said any potential agreement between the two sides would have to be ratified by the UN Security Council, Serbia’s Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said.

"This is evidence that Russia is monitoring the situation and that they won’t just be silent observers," Dacic said.

Editor of BETA news agency, Dragan Janjic commenting on gathering of citizens to welcome Russian President Vladimir Putin in Belgrade yesterday, said it was a manifestation intended for domestic public, rather than for Putin. “This was a manifestation of power, while authorities want to present it as the manifestation of support,” Janjic said.

Leaders of Montenegro's opposition Democratic Front Andrija Mandic and Milan Knezevic will attend the lunch that the Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic will organize for Vladimir Putin. The Russian president will arrive in Serbia on Thursday to a formal visit.
