A Co-chair of the Serbian Caucus in US Congress, Congressman from Texas Ted Poe expects that Washington would get active on the issue of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, Serbian media report.

“I think Washington would be more involved and it should be more involved in resolving this issue, and maybe move the EU to some other role, because I think that the US can help to encourage, not only Serbia, but Kosovo as well, to sit down at the negotiation table and resolve the issues that last for years,” Congressman Poe told Voice of America.

These remarks were made by the leader of Peoples’ Party Vuk Jeremic.

“If anyone had any dilemma whether it is true that things behind the scenes are being hastily brought to an end, this letter casts all doubts away,” Jeremic wrote on Twitter.

With his letter to Aleksandar Vucic and Hashim Thaci, Donald Trump has practically put delimitation as a solution to the Kosovo problem officially on the table. That's according to Belgrade-based daily Blic.

The paper writes, referring to diplomatic sources in Washington, that the US President was probably influenced by his National Security Adviser John Bolton and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, "who have been devoted to the issue in recent months."

European Union High Representative Federica Mogherini on Tuesday called the authorities in Pristina to revoke the 100 percent tariffs on goods from Serbia and warned that the alternative to the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue is dangerous.

Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic has assessed that Pristina cannot join any international organizations until it has reached an agreement with Belgrade.

As he said, Pristina cannot do this, regardless of who is standing behind it.

Speaking for Radio-Television of Vojvodina late on Tuesday, Dacic said Pristina today does not have a simple, let alone a two-thirds majority, required for membership in certain organizations.

US Assistant Secretary of State Wess Mitchel told Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic that the dialogue is the only way to normalize Belgrade-Pristina relations, the Serbian President’s cabinet said in a press release on Tuesday.

Speaking in a telephone conversation, Mitchel said that the crucial thing is to overcome tensions.

The press release added that they discussed the situation in the region, especially Belgrade-Pristina relations.

The request of President Vucic made at Monday's session of the UN Security Council dedicated to Kosovo would bring the UN back to the negotiating table. Belgrade daily Vecernje Novosti writes this on Wednesday.

Namely, during the meeting of the Council, Vucic requested a greater future role of the UN in the continuation of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue. The newspaper recalled that in the past, there had been demands for the process to return under the umbrella of this international body.

Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic reiterated on Tuesday in Brussels that the main foreign policy priority of Serbia is joining the EU. Brnabic said that "we can be even more efficient in the reforms that we conduct, primarily because of our citizens," the government announced.

At a joint press conference with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, Brnabic recalled that 16 negotiating chapters are currently open, after the meeting of the Stabilization and Association Council between Serbia and the EU, while two are temporarily closed.

Serbian citizens would hardly change their red lines in relation to Kosovo, that suggest Kosovo should remain part of Serbia, Belgrade-based daily Danas writes.

Minister Ivica Dacic told RTS that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, at the session of the UNSC, presented the genesis of the problems that Serbia faces, readiness for dialogue and a constructive approach, and on the other hand a clear opposition to the unilateral moves of Pristina to which they were used to in the past 20 years.
