Thaci: Germany remains Kosovo’s strategic partner (media)

President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, in a meeting with German Foreign Minister, Sigmar Gabriel, thanked Germany for support to Kosovo. “Germany is Kosovo’s strategic partner not only bilaterally but also in our journey towards European Union,” Thaci said. Thaci asked for Berlin’s continued support in Kosovo’s European integration process and stressed the importance of Kosovo ratifying border demarcation agreement with Montenegro, a press release issued by President’s Thaci’s office states.

Political pressure to (reach) joint investigation team (Danas)

Diplomatic sources told Danas daily that due to Pristina’s refusal to involve official Belgrade in the investigation, Belgrade can only count on exchange of information.

A journalist from Kosovo, Zivojin Rakocevic thinks that the government of Ramush Haradinaj, “should have fallen down because of the murder of Oliver Ivanovic” or “at least to freeze its existence till the moment when it becomes known who have killed him,” Serbian media reported.

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, condemned murder of the leader of the SDP civic initiative, Oliver Ivanovic, who was killed in Mitrovica North.

“I strongly condemn the murder of the leader of the Civic Initiative “Freedom, Democracy, Justice,” in the north of the country, Oliver Ivanovic,” wrote Thaci on his Facebook profile.

“I call on order bodies to swiftly shed light on the circumstances of his murder and bring perpetrators in front of justice.”

MP Daut Haradinaj, a former Kosovo Liberation Army fighter and brother of the prime minister, said that arrests by the new Hague-based Kosovo Specialist Chambers would cause a major backlash.

Daut Haradinaj, an Alliance for the Future of Kosovo MP who also is the brother of PM Ramush Haradinaj and fought with the Kosovo Liberation Army, told Klan Kosova TV on Wednesday that arrests by the new Specialist Chambers would cause a huge backlash from former KLA members.

President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, said at the meeting of the Consultative Council for Communities that inter-community dialogue is one of his main priorities and that Kosovo is a home to all its citizens. “This year we have managed to promote dialogue even more,” Thaci said adding that he supports the idea of increasing the budget for the Consultative Council for Communities.
