Mayors of the Serb-majority areas in the south of Kosovo congratulated their colleagues from four northern Kosovo municipalities on a convincing election victory, it was said in the statement.
“After the convincing triumph of Serbian List representatives in the elections, Pristina’s authorities will try to bring fear and insecurity among the Serbs in the southern province with additional pressures” said Zoran Todic, newly elected mayor of Leposavic told portal Srpski Telegraf.
He pointed out that Pristina was trying to break Serbian unity, and in recent months.
Candidates for mayors from the Serbian List won on Sunday in early local elections all four municipalities in northern Kosovo and Metohija. They won more votes with higher turnout than in the 2017 local elections, Tanjug news agency reported.
"Our candidates achieved a convincing, absolute victory in the municipalities of Leposavic, Zubin Potok, Zvecan and Mitrovica North," the Serbian List announced late on Sunday.
A vehicle belonging to the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Welfare in the Kosovo government and member of the Serbian lIst, Milos Perovic was torched early this morning in the center of Zubin Potok.
Kosovo Police spokesperson for the Region North lieutenant Branislav Radovic told KoSSev that the vehicle was set on fire early in the morning at 02:42h in the center of Zubin Potok.
He added that it is a black Volkswagen Passat vehicle with Kragujevac license plates.
„I urge all our citizens, all our compatriots in the north of Kosovo and Metohija, in the municipalities of Kosovska Mitrovica, Zvecan, Zubin Potok, Leposavic, to go to the polls and to vote for Srpska Lista.
Elections for the mayors of four municipalities will be held on Sunday in the north of Kosovo, RTS reports. In the next five days, candidates will have the right to hold rallies and present themselves to voters.
Zoran Todic, a Serbian List candidate for Mayor of Leposavic municipality told RTS that the elections are organized in an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty. He invited all citizens who have the right to vote to go to the polls.
The two detained Serbs from Mitrovica, suspected of being connected with the murder of Oliver Ivanovic, ended a two-week hunger strike.
According to Belgrade based daily Politika, Nedeljko Spasojević (42) and Marko Rosic (25) decided to stop the strike due to their exhaustion and were receiving intravenous infusion.
“The international community has instrumentalized heralds in Kosovo who support Kosovo’s independence,” the Head of the Kosovo Office, Marko Djuric stated yesterday, expressing his disagreement with their actions and claiming that he is not jeopardizing anyone by saying it openly.
Ballot order of candidates for mayors of four municipalities in the north of Kosovo will be determined on Tuesday, followed by the creation of a voter’s list and campaign that will last from May 13 to 17.
The candidates of the Serbian List will be able to take part in the elections for the presidents of the municipalities in the Kosovo north, because the appeal they filed has been accepted, Belgrade based news agency Tanjug reported.
The CEC's Appeal Panel in Pristina adopted the appeal of the Serbian List, whose candidates were not confirmed yesterday.
