Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, has dismissed Ljubomir Maric from the post of Minister of Local Government and Administration and replaced him with Mirjana Jevtic who until now was Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Welfare. “The decisions have been taken following proposals and consultations of the Serbian List representatives at the Assembly of Kosovo,” reads a press release issued by Mustafa’s office.

Kosovo Prime Minister, Isa Mustafa, said today that the ruling coalition is working to secure the required number of votes to resubmit the demarcation deal with Montenegro in the Kosovo Assembly. Mustafa also said he was confident that the draft law on the border demarcation with Montenegro will be ratified soon.

The leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), Ramush Haradinaj, visited Iber/Ibar River Bridge today and said that Kosovo needs bridges in Mitrovica, not walls. “Today I visited Mitrovica and saw the wall that was built there. It is incomprehensible how provincial nationalist mentality builds walls at this time. It would be best if those funds were spent on construction of another bridge in Mitrovica. Pristina and Mitrovica need to build more bridges, because our common destiny are bridges, not walls.

The British Ambassador to Kosovo, Ruairi O’Connell, during a Q & A session on his Facebook page said that the wall in Mitrovica is a sensitive issue. “The wall is the issue of the week. I understand that it is a very sensitive issue. The EU has worked with both parties for years to ensure freedom of movement. I do not think that the construction of a wall helps. But I also think that the integration of Kosovo depends on many factors other than building a wall or not.”

EULEX judge, Arkadiusz Sedek, presiding over the trial against the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) MP Azem Syla accused on organised crime charges, has decided to open court sessions to the media after initially closing them off. Sedek justified the decision to open the trial due to the media importance of the case and its outcome. However, today’s court hearing was postponed for Thursday after one of the accused, Hajrullah Berisha, is reported to have fled Kosovo.

The chairman of the Mitrovica South Assembly, Baki Imeri, has called an urgent session for Wednesday to discuss the construction of the wall near the Ibar Bridge. “The meeting will focus on the political and security situation following the construction of the wall on the other side of the Ibar Bridge,” the invitation reads.

The Kosovo Assembly Foreign Affairs Committee discussed today the recently-built wall near the main bridge over the Iber River. The head of the committee, Elmi Recica, said the entire project for the revitalization of the bridge was not made public. According to him, the MPs did not have knowledge of the entire project. Zafir Berisha from the Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA) said the wall initiative is a continuation of Serbia’s projects for Kosovo's partition.

The news website reports that the Pristina-based initiative “Breathe” will organise a protest against air pollution in Pristina this week. Preparations for the protest are underway and 2,000 people are expected to take part.
