Večernje Novosti reports that at the beginning of this month the Interpol Executive Board gave a "green light" for the Pristina membership request to be on the agenda of its 86th General Assembly in September, sources of the Belgrade based daily Večernje Novosti said that this was not the final attitude. Because, ahead of the Assembly to be held in Beijing, the Interpol Executive Board will meet once again and only then determine the final agenda, which means that the issue of membership is still on a long stick.

Kosovo has applied for Interpol membership, however, Donika Emini from Kosovo Center for Security Studies (KCSS) considers cooperation between the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and that of the Internal Affairs to be problematic.

If Kosovo becomes a member of the Interpol, Pristina could arrest anyone, including people from Serbia all over the world, for no reason, writes Vesti portal.

Kosovo’s outgoing Minister of Interior, Skender Hyseni, received a letter from Interpol’s Secretary General, Jurgen Stock, regarding Kosovo’s application for membership. The letter says that a feasibility study has been finalized and submitted to the Executive Committee which has decided to vote on Kosovo’s membership application during upcoming Interpol’s General Assembly set to take place in September, in China.

Kosovo’s Internal Affairs Minister, Skender Hyseni, said today he was hopeful of Kosovo gaining membership in Interpol by the end of the year. Hyseni made the remarks at the signing of an agreement with European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Training (CEPOL) at the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety in Vushtrri/Vucitrn.

Kosovo’s Interior Minister, Skender Hyseni, said in a debate organised by NGO “Fol” today that it was unacceptable for Kosovo Liberation Army fighters to be detained on warrants issued by Serbia. “We have to use our allies that are part of Interpol to invalidate these lists,” said Hyseni. Speaking about the prospect of Kosovo applying for Interpol membership, Hyseni said the issue has been “complicated by Palestine’s application.” The Palestinian Authority’s Interpol membership bid failed after its application was suspended in 2016.

The list of the 157 Kosovars wanted by INTERPOL for different criminal offences with the request of Serbia, is reduced on 22 individuals.

According to RTK, names of the senior institutional officials and former KLA commanders of different zones, used to figure in the previous lists, however not in the most recent one.

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Nebojša Stefanović said today in a letter to the Secretary General of Interpol Jürgen Stock that the request of the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Albania for the reassessment of the red warrant for Ramush Haradinaj represented rough and unacceptable interference of one state in sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia.

The Minister of the Internal Affairs of Kosovo, Skënder Hyseni said today that he will use the 2017 to do anything that is possible for Kosovo’s membership at Interpol.

He also congratulated Kosovo Police for the assessment of the Transparency International which ranked KP as the most trusted in the region.

Prime Minister of Kosovo Isa Mustafa also congratulated the police.

International police Interpol has postponed making a decision on the membership, including the requirement of Kosovo, until study is conducted, reads the announcement of the organization's website.
