Pacolli on eventual coalition with PAN (RTK)

The leader of the Alliance for New Kosovo (AKR) Behxhet Pacolli has denied claims that his position against joining coalition PAN, is shaking.

He took to his official profile in Facebook to write that AKR and its partners, the Democratic League of Kosovo, Aleternativa and Movement for Justice are determined on their path for change, dictated by vote of the people on 11 June.

CDHRF calls for inquiry into KEDS electricity bills (Koha/RTK)

Kosovo-based Council for Defence of Human Rights and Freedoms (CDHRF) called on relevant authorities to open an inquiry into the way the Kosovo Energy Distribution Services (KEDS) has been billing electricity. KEDS is being accused of billing unpaid electricity in the north to the rest of the Kosovo residents and CDHRF in a statement said the damages caused to regular-paying consumers need to be compensated.

Hahn: Kosovo to continue reforms (RTK/Kosovapress)

EU Enlargement Commissioner, Johannes Hahn, said yesterday at the European Parliament that dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade should resume and that Kosovo needs to continue reforms in the field of rule of law, economic development and education.

Hahn said elections in Kosovo were peaceful and that this was a sign of democratic maturity of the people. He also said Kosovo should keep up the pace with the rest of the Western Balkans and encourage economic growth and political stability.

Thaci: Kosovo to have stable, pro-European and multiethnic government (RTK)

President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, said in an interview for Austrian daily Salzburger Nachrichten that he would like to see Brussels more engaged in the Western Balkans region but that he was not expecting any “miracles” from the meeting between the EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini and Western Balkans leaders.

Two memorandums of cooperation to be signed at CEC (RTK)

Two memorandums of cooperation will be signed today at the Central Election Commission (CEC).

Initially, CEC will be signing a memorandum of cooperation with the EU Office in Kosovo, for monitoring of the early parliamentary elections. Another memorandum of cooperation will be signed between the government of Kosovo and the EU Office in Kosovo. These memorandums will be signed by the head of CEC, Valdete Daka, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Enver Hoxhaj and the EU Special Representative in Kosovo, Nataliya Apostolova.

Coalition of Serb political parties and registering on election lists (RTK)

The leader of the Kosovo Serbs’ Party, Aleksandar Jablanovic, stated that his party has agreed for pre-election coalition with the Active Civic Initiative, led by Vuk Vukojevic, with its base in Mitrovica.

Jablanovic stated for Serbian media that the leadership of his party will submit on Friday the list of the candidates for parliamentary elections, which will be held on 11 June.

Government allocates €4.9 million for early elections (RTK)

The government of Kosovo allocated today €4.9 million for early elections. Outgoing Deputy Prime Minister, Hajredin Kuçi said that these means are required to organize 11 June elections.

“The Office of the Prime Minster has received a request from the Central Election Commission to allocate €4 million and 944 thousand and 900, required to organize 11 June elections. I believe that these means are necessary and I call on you to approve them,” Kuci said.

Kosovo Assembly discontinues benefits for MPs (RTK)

The outgoing presidency of the Kosovo Assembly decided today to end the mandate of all MPs including all the benefits they are entitled to. Outgoing Assembly President, Kadri Veseli, said that although they had some difficult times during this mandate, the Assembly managed to preserve democracy. He said however that he would want to see more “responsible” MPs in the next legislature.

Thaci: Serbia planning to divide Kosovo (RTK)

President of Kosovo Hashim Thaci told Croatian paper Nacional that the dialogue with Belgrade is not easy but that there is no alternative to it until it culminates with Serbia’s recognition of Kosovo. “I have led the war for liberation of Kosovo but I also led the dialogue for good neighbourly relations with Serbia because it was the necessary thing to do,” Thaci said adding that he was aware that Serbia plans to divide Kosovo but vowed that such a scenario will not materialize: “We all know Serbia knows how to start wars but not to how to win them”.
