Opposition parties form joint anti-government front (media)

The Vetevendosje leader, Visar Ymeri, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) leader Ramush Haradinaj and the Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA) leader Fatmir Limaj, told a press conference in Pristina today that they have agreed to form a joint anti-government front. The opposition leaders said that starting from Friday they will organize a petition throughout Kosovo in opposition to the formation of the Association/Community of Serb-majority municipalities, the agreements reached in Brussels and the border demarcation with Montenegro.

NISMA: Protests to be peaceful if government doesn’t provoke (Indeksonline)

Bilall Sherifi, senior member of the Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA) said today that his party will support the protests announced by two other opposition parties, the Vetevendosje Movement and Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK).  “We will participate in the protests against the bad governance and the damaging agreements reached with Serbia. We will contribute in organizing these protests,” Sherifi said, adding that the protests would be peaceful if the government doesn’t provoke with any actions.

Haradinaj: Kosovo should hold national elections this year (RTK/Epoka)

Ramush Haradinaj, leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), said in an interview with Epoka e Re that Kosovo should go to early national elections in October this year “in order to save itself from the bad governance of [Prime Minister] Isa Mustafa”. Haradinaj did not rule out the possibility of the AAK, Initiative for Kosovo and the Vetevendosje Movement, running with a joint list in the event of early elections. The AAK leader also said that the special court is an unnecessary experiment and that it benefits only Prime Minister Mustafa.

Opposition parties planning to block vote on special court (Lajmi)

The news site reports that the opposition parties, with the initiative of the Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA) are planning to block the work of the Kosovo Assembly in the session when they are expected to vote for the constitutional amendments that enable the establishment of the special court. "The goal is that the opposition MPs to physically block the entrance of the hall where the session is expected to take place, and not allow the MPs to enter the session,” said a senior official of one of the opposition parties who preferred to remain anonymous.

The representatives of the three opposition parties, Vetevendosje, Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), and Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA), have requested early parliamentary elections. The leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosvo, Ramush Haradinaj, head of the NISMA’s parliamentary group Valdete Bajrami and Vetevendosje activist, Frasher Krasniqi, assessed that the only solution to save Kosovo from the current coalition between the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), is holding of early elections.

Former Assembly Speaker and current head of the National Council at the Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA) political party, Jakup Krasniqi, stated that witnesses can be protected also in Kosovo and that this is not an essential reason to establish a special court. His statement came as a response to the announcement of the Human Rights Watch Executive Director Kenneth Roth that the special court has to establish being that witnesses are not protected in Kosovo.

Former Kosovo Assembly Speaker and current head of national council of the Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA), Jakup Krasniqi, reacted against the statements of Belgrade senior officials who claimed that Belgrade will not give up Gazivoda Lake. He wrote on his Facebook profile that “according to Serbian media, Vucic told Isa Mustafa in front of the EU officials that “there is no chance to accept your requests. We do not give up Gazivoda.”

Opposition representatives walk out of Assembly Presidency meeting (Lajmi)

The representatives of opposition parties have walked out of the meeting of the Kosovo Assembly Presidency when Assembly Speaker Kadri Veseli opened the topic of the special court. Vetevendosje’s Glauk Konjufca, who is a member of the Assembly Presidency, told reporters that they walked out of the meeting because of discussions on the constitutional amendments that make way to the establishment of the special court. Konjufca said that Speaker Veseli asked the presidency that the special court should be discussed at a plenary session on Friday.

Dozens of activists of the three opposition parties, the Vetevendosje Movement, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo and Initiative for Kosovo, on Friday developed an action in front of the government building, placing a picture of Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Hashim Thaci holding a hammer with a picture of Justice Minister Hajredin Kuci. The activists said that as long as Kuci remains Justice Minister, there will be no law and order in Kosovo.
