Djuric: Rate of returns of IDPs from Kosovo unsatisfactory (Tanjug)

The return of internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Kosovo-Metohija has been overshadowed by political events in the recent period, and the rate of returns is unsatisfactory, the head of the Serbian government's Office for Kosovo-Metohija Marko Djuric has said.

At Monday's meeting with Peter Due, a representative of the UN Secretary-General and the head of the UN Office in Belgrade, Djuric said that the return of IDPs should be approached in a new way.

UNMIK deplores violence in Kosovo (B92,Tanjug)

Head of the UN mission in Kosovo Farid Zarif deplored violence during protest on 22 June in southern part of Kosovska Mitrovica.

At the same time he commended the reaction of police and international security forces. UNMIK's Press Release reads that Zarif called on continued calm in the aftermath of this incident and reiterated that such behavior of some individuals should not be permitted to inflame wider tensions.

New sports field brings communities together (Zeri)

The “Martin Camaj” primary school in Llukafc i Thate has been given a sports field that will be used by children for different sport activities. Construction of the sports field was supported by UNMIK and implemented in cooperation with the non-governmental organization “Vision 02” from Istog. The municipal director of education, Agim Haxhiaj, in a ceremony at the school, said that this is a project with immense importance for all communities as this area is known for harmonious co-existence between communities.

37 bodies discovered in Rudnica so far (Tanjug)

RUDNICA - The remains of 37 people killed in the Kosovo conflict in 1999 have so far been exhumed from the Rudnica quarry, southern Serbia, head of the commission on missing persons Veljko Odalovic has said during a visit to the location.

"The process goes on and 37 bodies have been recovered so far," he told reporters on Thursday, adding that the exhumation would continue throughout June.

UN Assistant Secretary for Peacekeeping Operations visits today mass grave in Rudnica (Radio Kosova)

United Nations Assistant Secretary General for Peacekeeping Operations, Edmond Mulet and the head of UNMIK, Farid Zarif, are visiting today Rudnica, the mass grave in Rashka, Serbia, where it is believed to have been buried 300 victims from the latest war in Kosovo, informs news agency Presheva Jone. The United Nations Delegation will be accompanied by the head of the Commission of Serbia for Missing Persons Veljko Odalovic and representatives from Pristina and other international organizations.

Jahjaga and Assistant Secretary General at the UN, value progress in Kosovo (Koha Ditore)

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, hosted today the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, Mr. Edmond Mulet.

President Jahjaga informed Mr. Mulet about general developments in Kosovo, the dialogue process with Serbia, and the early general elections, which will be held this Sunday. She stressed that all citizens should exercise their right to vote and elect their legitimate representatives.

Jessen-Petersen at a meeting with Haradinaj, welcomes "The new direction"

The leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK,) met with former UNMIK chief, Søren Jessen-Petersen. Haradinaj wrote on his social network page, Facebook, that Petersen has welcomed “New Direction,” (the motto of this party in the election campaign.) “It was a pleasure to meet with my friend and with the great friend of Kosovo, Søren Jessen-Petersen, who used to be head of UNMIK,” wrote Haradinaj.
