"UN chair for Kosovo lurks behind US package" (B92, Vecernje Novosti, Blic)

The US "package" for Kosovo will put Serbia and President Aleksandar Vucic in "a very delicate position."

That's according to Belgrade daily Vecernje Novosti, which adds that "the package" could be presented to Serbian officials on Wednesday, when US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Wess Mitchell will visit Pristina, and then Belgrade.

"Nothing has changed - Slovakia won't recognize Kosovo" (Tanjug, B92)

The issue of Kosovo is "difficult for Serbia" - and one of the conditions put before Serbia, says Slovakia's foreign minister.

This is the case "because the EU does not want to be put in the position of a judge," Ivan Korcok told students at University of Belgrade's Faculty of Political Sciences.

The Slovak official reiterated that his country will remain consistent, and will not recognize Kosovo.

Serbia "cannot trade with the issue of Kosovo and Metohija," First Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said on Monday.

According to the Serbian government, Dacic made the remark after his meeting in Belgrade with Slovakia's acting Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Ivan Korcok.

Juncker: I did not ask Serbs to choose between Russia and EU (Tanjug, RTS, Euronews)

President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker said that “he did not ask the Serbs to choose between Russia and EU, because they have to have normal relations with Russia and the best possible relations with the EU,” Tanjug news agency reported on Saturday.

“Serbia has very close relations with Moscow that is much active in the region” Juncker told Euronews in Sofia.

Vucic and Thaci met in Sofia, talked about continuing talks (BETA)

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has said that he met with Kosovo President Hashim Thaci in Sofia on Thursday, BETA news agency reported.

According to Vucic, they discussed "continuing the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina and solving the historical dispute between Serbs and Albanians."

“Demarcation with Serbia in four years” (BETA, KIM Radio)

Kosovo MP, Ilir Deda said they have received a message from EU officials that demarcation with Serbia should be completed in four years, KIM Radio reported.

“Demarcation as a term won’t be missed. Within 4-year timeframe we should complete demarcation of border with Serbia,” Deda told Pristina-based TV KTV.

He also added, the EU expects this process to finalize by 2021 “by mutual dialogue or arbitration court,” KIM Radio reported.

 

Juncker "promised no one in Balkans EU accession date" (Deutsche Welle, BETA)

Jean-Claude Juncker said after visiting Skopje, Tirana, Belgrade, Sarajevo, Podgorica, and Pristina that he "promised no one an accession date."

The European Commission president told Deutsche Welle that he also "didn't give states that are not yet negotiating a date to begin negotiations," adding that he was "not interested in fixing dates on a calendar as much as in substance."

"I care about dates, but not to the point that I would forget the substance in talks," said Juncker.
