Mustafa: Missing persons, a priority for the government (RTK)

Isa Mustafa, the Prime Minister of Kosovo, attended today the meeting of the Kosovo government’s committee for missing persons. “I am here today to express my full commitment to do my best to resolve the fate of your missing loved ones. This issue will be treated as a priority by the government of the Republic of Kosovo. It will also be treated as a priority in meetings and relations with international officials, so that pressure can be applied on Serbia to find our loved ones. We will also address this issue within the process of dialogue in Brussels,” Mustafa said.

Kosovo, seeking IMF help, wins praise for ditching pay hike plan (Reuters)

The International Monetary Fund praised Kosovo's new prime minister on Monday for defying a strike threat and sticking to plans for steep public sector pay hikes.

Prime Minister Isa Mustafa, who took power two weeks ago, has vetoed a pledge by his predecessor to raise public sector salaries by 25 percent annually for the next four years, following a similar raise this year.

Isa Mustafa, Prime Minister of Kosovo, hosted an introductory meeting for the Resident Representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Kosovo, Frank Lakwijk.

Except for the general developments in Kosovo, they discussed also the cooperation of the government of Kosovo with IMF. Mustafa stressed that the Kosovo budget should be in function of economic development and increasing of competition in private sector.

Merkel invites Mustafa to visit Berlin (kosovapress)

Angela Merkel, German Chancellor, congratulated the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, on his new post and invited him to visit her state soon. “I would be pleased to greet you in Berlin very soon,” wrote Merkel.

“You are in front of major challenges, especially related to Kosovo’s getting closer to the European Union, dialogue with Belgrade and creation of the legal and democratic structures of Your state. Germany will continue to be a reliable partner of Kosovo,” wrote Merkel.

Mustafa and Vucic will meet on 8-9 February (Gazeta Blic/Vecernje Novosti)

The dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia will resume with the meeting between Isa Mustafa, the Prime Minister of Kosovo, and Aleksandar Vucic, the Prime Minister of Serbia, in Brussels on 8-9 February. The establishment of the Association/Community of Serb-majority Municipalities is expected to be the main topic of the meeting. According to Belgrade-based Vecernje Novosti, the two prime ministers will also discuss the properties of Serbs in Kosovo, creation of conditions for IDP returns and the judiciary.

In an interview for Radio Dukagjini, Syle Hoxha, the Acting State Chief Prosecutor of Kosovo, said several government ministers are being investigated for corruption but that Prime Minister Isa Mustafa is not one of them. “We are not selecting between small or big fish. Every case of this nature is a priority. There is certain information about people that you refer to as big fish and we will certainly not hesitate to do our job,” he said. Hoxha also said that several members of Mustafa’s cabinet while he was Mayor of Pristina are under investigation.
