Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, told the Kosovo Government today that he withdrew the bill for the ratification of the border agreement with Montenegro from the Assembly last week, “because circumstances were not right to move forward on the matter”. Mustafa said: “there was a lot of pressure and also individual threats against MPs. I was not talking about any specific political party when I mentioned conditions, but I did say that we would not accept any conditions.

The government of Kosovo decided during today’s meeting to extend the mandate of the current Police Director, Shpend Maxhuni.

Minister of Internal Affairs Skender Hyseni said that the proposal for such decision was made based on Maxhuni’s performance at work.

Head of the Pristina branch of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), Avni Arifi, assessed that the debate with the people of Kosovo that they would move freely without visas, is a debate to keep alive government’s collective deceit. He called Mustafa and Thaçi deceivers, saying that both of them deceived Kosovo with visa liberalisation. “I am sorry to use these words but Thaçi has deceived Kosovo since 2010 when he used to say that he has received guarantees from the most senior levels at the EU that the EU will not be late.

Kosovo Prime Minister, Isa Mustafa, said today that the government will very soon resend to the Assembly the draft law on the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro. Mustafa said that he would call a meeting with opposition representatives before sending the bill to the Assembly. Mustafa said he would schedule a meeting with the Serbian List, but added that the government will not agree to anyone’s conditions in exchange for their votes in favor of the demarcation agreement.

Kosovo Prime Minister Isa Mustafa told members of the Kosovo Assembly today that circumstances are not right to vote on the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro. “As Prime Minister, I believe that today the circumstances are not right to vote on the demarcation with Montenegro … The government has withdrawn the draft law from the agenda. We will try to reach a joint position on the law. We believe it is not appropriate to discuss this draft law at this point and we don’t want to make concessions about the draft law.

Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Isa Mustafa, reported at the Kosovo government meeting today on the visit by U.S. Vice President Joe Biden. Mustafa said Kosovo will continue to have the support of the U.S. but that it needs to fulfil its obligations. “We received clear messages that Kosovo is an ally of the U.S., but that this also depends on Kosovo meeting its obligations,” Mustafa said. He also said that the U.S. wants Kosovo to establish the Association/Community of Serb-majority municipalities.

Kosovo Prime Minister, Isa Mustafa, met today in Pristina with U.S. Vice President Joe Biden. After the meeting, Mustafa wrote on his Facebook account that Biden’s visit will further strengthen the friendship and strategic partnership between Kosovo and the U.S.

Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, in his address at the border demarcation debate today, said that it has not been proven until now that Kosovo is giving land to Montenegro through the demarcation agreement. Mustafa said that after the border demarcation agreement was signed a year ago, he made a call to all those who claimed to have land that would be affected in the deal to come forward and present relevant ownership documents.  Mustafa also said that the Ahtisaari status package obliges Kosovo to draw the border along the same lines decided in 1974.

Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Isa Mustafa, while commenting on recent accusations between ruling-coalition and opposition parties regarding border-demarcation agreement with Montenegro, said on Monday that the ruling-coalition is only requesting arguments. According to him, all issues regarding this agreement will be resolved in the interest of Kosovo citizens, and that the ratification of this agreement is related to the free movement of Kosovo citizens. Regarding the debate on demarcation to be held on 3 August, Mustafa said this debate will only bring arguments.
