In an interview to Insajderi news website, the US Ambassador Greg Delawie said that Kosovo should have an army but that this should be done through constitutional amendments and in consultation with all communities in Kosovo. Delawie dismissed statements by Kosovo officials that the creation of the Kosovo army is happening in full coordination with international partners. “This is not how we envisaged the process to take place. This does truly not reflect the content of discussions we had with Kosovo Government officials more recently,” he said.

The United States Ambassador in Kosovo, Greg Delawie, has congratulated Kosovo’s institutions for their steps toward reconciliation. He said the Truth and Reconciliation Commission must be independent and transparent and include citizens from all ethnic backgrounds. Delawie also said that individuals that are part of this commission and share their experiences must be given protection by the government and the commission. “The United States of America will remain your partner as long as you seek justice and the truth,” he added.

Delawie: Education a key to prevention of violent extremism (RTK)

The U.S. Ambassador to Kosovo, Greg Delawie, said today that violent extremism derived from dissatisfied, unemployed youth, who lacked the feeling of belonging, are now exploiting social media to add to their number, making the fear spread in a chain manner.

Speaking at a round table organized in Gjakova,  by Women’s Initiative in Kosovo, Delawie said “violent extremists spread stories, messages and ideology to attract individuals but also communities into their orbit.”

The US Ambassador to Kosovo, Greg Delawie, said in an interview for RTK2 that his country supports transformation of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) into Kosovo Armed Force (KAF). “Certainly the United States supports the transformation of Kosovo Security Force to the Kosovo Armed Forces. I think it’s important this transformation happens in a way that is Constitutional, that involves the interests of all communities of Kosovo. So, this is another issue, I think, that improved dialogue is very important between the communities.

Delawie welcomes NATO letter for Kosovo (Klan Kosova)
