Unidentified individuals have burned down during the last night the flags of Albania and Kosovo, at the Montenegrin capital city, Podgorica. The case happened at “Capital Plaza” where the offices of the Embassy of Kosovo are situated.
The three international experts, Fletcher Burton, Herbert Wilmes and Fred Newton will make public today their report on the borderline between Kosovo and Montenegro. The Office of the President of Kosovo, informed that the findings of the three-member team will be made public today at 17:30 hours at a press conference. The President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, will also participate at the press conference.
The United States Embassy in Pristina announced that the U.S. State Department has reviewed the Kosovo-Montenegro border demarcation document prepared by the Kosovo State Commission for Marking and Maintenance of the State Border.
Aleksandar Vucic said at the opening of the OSCE Ministerial Council that the Balkans remains "a powder keg that needs only a spark to explode again."
"I must express my concern for the stability in the Balkans. Serbia is a stable country, but several crisis situation in the region are enough - in Macedonia, Montenegro, Pristina - for the whole region be set on fire again," said Prime Minister of Serbia on Thursday.
Montenegro is expected to ratify soon the agreement for demarcation of the border with Kosovo. Montenegro’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Igor Luksic, confirmed the news in an interview for Montenegrin media. “I believe that Montenegro will very soon complete ratification of the agreement for demarcation with Kosovo,” he said.
Kosovo’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Hashim Thaci, congratulated Montenegro for acceptance of the invitation to become a NATO member.
He wrote on his Facebook page that Montenegro’s membership at NATO will strengthen security in Balkans.
“Congratulations Montenegro for the invitation for NATO membership. This is a development that strengthens security of the entire Balkans, including Kosovo,” Thaci wrote.
In an interview for the news site, Arban Abrashi, Kosovo’s Minister for Labor and Social Welfare and spokesman for the Kosovo Government, said that the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro is in full compliance with the Constitution of Kosovo. He argued that the agreement does not violate a single meter of Kosovo’s territory and that Montenegro has no territorial tendencies toward Kosovo. “However, if the Constitutional Court finds that the border demarcation agreement is in violation with the Constitution, we will respect its decision,” he added.
OSCE Mission in Kosovo, together with UNHCR, will organize on 21 September in Budva Technical Meeting and Forum on the highest level about sustainable solutions for displaced persons from Kosovo.
The working group for technical issues will finalize proposals on 21 September related to priority areas such as property issues, civil documentation, data management and cooperation.
The Leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj commented the statement of the President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, during his address to Kosovo’s new ambassador to the US, Vlora Citaku, where he expressed support for the border demarcation between Kosovo and Montenegro.
