Mass migration from Kosovo not abating (Tanjug)

PRISTINA - Mass migration from Kosovo do not seem to abate as thousands of families are setting off for some EU countries and their children are even dropping out of schools, Pristina media reported on Wednesday quoting the release issued by the local Ministry of Education.

The Kosovo Ministry of Education released alarming statistics late on Tuesday according to which 5,200 students have dropped out of school in Kosovo over the past few months, intending to enrol in schools in some of the Western countries, Albanian-language media reported.

Nikolic: ICJ ruling confirmed mass crime against Serbs (Tanjug)

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic said Tuesday that Croatia had failed to prove that the Serbian side had any intent to commit genocide during the 1991/95 war in Croatia, but on the other hand, even though Serbia’s counter-claim had been rejected, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) had found that Croatia had committed a mass crime against Serbs.

The ICJ issued a judgment today dismissing both the Croatian claim and the Serbian counter-claim in a case where each country had suit each other for committing genocide against each other`s populations.

"All Brussels deal commitments must be implemented" (B92, CORD, Tanjug)

BELGRADE -- "All existing commitments" under the Brussels agreement will need to be implemented for chapter 35 in Serbia's EU talks to be opened, says Johannes Hahn.

The EU commissioner for regional policy told the Belgrade-based CorD Magazine that "although some good progress has been made, there is still more to be done."

The Serbian list defends Jablanovic (RTS)

The Serbian list assessed the statement of deputy in the Assembly of Kosovo, Nenad Rasic as frivolous and "shameful", that the current Minister of Returns and Communities Aleksandar Jablanovic should resign on moral grounds.

"It is frivolous, shameful and utterly unacceptable that those who had no shred of morality when they were part of the Government of Kosovo speak about what kind of moral act should do some of the current Ministers," the statement said, submitted to Tanjug.

President receives army chief in wake of accusations (B92, Tanjug)

BELGRADE -- President Tomislav Nikolic believes that "attacks on the (army) chief of staff" are an attempt to "humiliate everything good done in Serbia" recently.

Nikolic received General Ljubisa Dikovic on Friday morning in the Presidency, a day after it the Humanitarian Law Center (FHP) NGO accused the Serbian Army (VS) chief of being responsible for war crimes.

Serbian and Kosovo female entrepreneurs against the prejudices (RTS,Tanjug)

A conference over cooperation between Serbian and Kosovo female entrepreneurs is taking place today in Belgrade. Conference has the goal to support economic cooperation between Serbia and Kosovo and to eliminate prejudices, said Serbian Deputy Prime Minister, Zorana Mihajlovic, and director of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Marko Đurić.

Trifunovic: We expect fate of missing persons to be solved (Tanjug)

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - Coordinator of the Association of Families of Kidnapped and Missing Persons in Kosovo-Metohija Milorad Trifunovic stated on Thursday that he expects the fate of missing persons from Kosovo to be solved in the course of the year.

In a statement for Tanjug, Trifunovic said that bodies of only four Serbs have been identified in Kosovo over the past four years, and added that not a single location was found in Kosovo that contains remains of missing and kidnapped Serbs.

The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in Kosovo, Farid Zarif, commended proportionate response of the police during yesterday unrest in Pristina, and said that democratic rights are not exercised through violence.

UNMIK expressed concern by the recent events in Pristina city centre. Such acts have nothing to do with the exercise of the democratic right to express legitimate grievances, stated UN mission in Kosovo (UNMIK).

Mihajlovic: We will not give up on “Trepca” (Tanjug)

Serbia will not give up on "Trepca" and we believe that the talks about the property should begin as soon as possible, said today Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of construction, transport and infrastructure, Zorana Mihajlovic. 

"Serbia will certainly not give up the “Trepca”. The Serbian Government has shown in the last year that we are a factor of stability in the whole region and that we respect our agreements," said Mihajlovic.
