Dikovic and Fungo on security challenges (KiM Radio)

Serbian Army Chief of Staff, General Ljubisa Dikovic met with the KFOR Commander Major General, Giovanni Fungo yesterday in the military barracks “Banjica 2,” KIM Radio reported.

The two military officials spoke about current security situation in Kosovo and along the administrative line.

The announcement on the Serbian Army webpage further said they also spoke about the realization of joint activities between the Army of Serbia and KFOR.

Fungo: Only KFOR is authorized army in Kosovo (Koha Ditore)

KFOR Commander Giovanni Fungo, was asked in a written interview of the paper, to comment the war-inducing comments of the Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić, who threatened to send the army to Kosovo. Fungo said that the force that he commands, is the only army that can act in Kosovo. He added that this was also decided by the Kumanovo agreement, signed between NATO and Serbia in 1999. He also stressed that during the tensions of the last weekend, KFOR was in the state of alert.

Thaci: Violence is unacceptable (Telegrafi)

Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Hashim Thaci, met today with the new commander of KFOR troops, Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta. “Deputy Prime Minister Thaci briefed COMKFOR Miglietta on the achievements in Kosovo, with special emphasis on the developments of the last month. DPM Thaci said Kosovo has excellent relations with its neighbors and that it has started the process of normalization of relations with Serbia that contributes to peace and stability in the region,” a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted.

COMKFOR: Kosovo is not immune from terror attacks (Lajmi)

KFOR Commander Francesco Paolo Figliuolo told a press conference today that Kosovo, same as other countries, is faced with the threat of possible terror attacks, but that local institutions have been successful in addressing such threats. “I am aware that even more can be done, but we are on the right track and this is a result of good cooperation between all institutions that are handling this problem,” Figliuolo said.
