SLS supports Kostic’s candidacy for Gracanica Mayor (Blic)

President of the Independent Liberal Party (SLS) Slobodan Petrovic said that with the support to Vladeta Kostic, Serbian candidate for mayor of Gracanica, this party wanted to take part of the responsibility for the implementation of obligations towards the citizens. “The next mayor of Gracanica should be at the service of all its residents,” said Petrovic and explained that SLS is already in coalition with the Serbian List.

In addition to Nenad Rasic from the PDS, Vladeta Kostic has submitted candidacy for mayor of Gracanica, in front of the CI Srpska and Dragisa Miric from the New Party of Kosovo.

Progressive Democratic Party candidate in the elections for mayor of Gracanica, Nenad Rasic stated that the elections for mayor of Gracanica would decide a lot, but he was confident he would win in the first round of local elections.

Five days for candidates to apply for the election of Gracanica mayor (KiM Radio)

Member of the CEC, Nenad Rikalo said that at yesterday's meeting of that body were set deadlines for snap local elections for mayor of Gracanica on 18 January.

Rikalo told Beta news agency that the candidates for mayor will be able to apply until 23 December.

The period for voting by mail for displaced persons in central Serbia runs from 13 December to 5 January next year, and the deadline for voting by mail is from the 12th to the 16th of January, added Rikalo.

According to him, the campaign will last only five days, i.e. from 12 to 16 January.

Elections in Gracanica on 18 January (Gazeta Express)

Gazeta Express writes that the President of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga, after consultations with political parties, decided that elections for mayor in the municipality of Gracanica will be held on 18 January 2015.

These elections were announced after the former mayor of Gracanica, Branimir Stojanovic has resigned from his duties upon taking the post of Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo.

While in opposition in Pristina believe that the Serbs would be the deciding factor in the executive branch in Kosovo, Slobodan Petrovic believes that the new cabinet members will not have too much influence, but will work in the interests of their community.

He repeated that it was not important only a number of ministries but also  people who would lead the ministries, and that they would show their best now and wished them much success.

Frequent attacks on Serbs in Kisnica (KiM radio)

In Kisnica, near Gracanica, attacks on Serb property are more frequent. The latest incident occurred yesterday, when houses of families Krstic and Trajkovic have been stoned.

The President of the Local Committee for Public Safety in Sušica, Kisnica and Badovac Snezana Jovanovic said that the latest attack on Serbs in Kisnica occurred yesterday when a vehicle’s glass was broken and stones thrown at the houses of families Krstic and Trajkovic.

Vucic is not going to Gracanica (Danas)

Serbian PM, Aleksandar Vucic, will not attend the unveiling of the monument dedicated to  King Milutin in the yard of the school in Gracanica, which is celebrating 140 years of its existence. Branimir Stojanovic, mayor of Gracanica, a municipality in Kosovo system of local government, said that celebration was postponed due to technical reasons, and will be held probably at the end of November."

Serbian national forum established in Gracanica (RTK2, Blic)

Group of activists formed the Serbian national forum (SNF) in Gracanica, an organization whose goal is to assemble the intellectual elite of Kosovo Serbs and solving problems of the Serbian community, reported RTK2.

- The idea came from the need to include an intellectual force of the Serbian people in Kosovo and therefore propose solutions for problems related to the Serbian people in Kosovo, ranging from everyday problems, which may be trivial for some, to those very painful and difficult ones – said one of the founders of the forum professor Aleksandar Djikic.

Announced the construction of houses for the vulnerable (RTK2)

Mayor of Gracanica, Branimir Stojanovic and Director of the Office of the Government of Kosovo for Communities Srdjan Popovic signed a memorandum on the construction of five houses for socially vulnerable families and the reconstruction of the church of St. Dimitrije in Sušica.

Director of the Office Srdjan Popovic said that the signing of a memorandum is continuation of successful cooperation with the municipality of Gracanica.
