Albanian PM wants Serbia "to recognize Kosovo" (B92,Politika,Akter,Blic)

TIRANA -- "The sooner Serbia formally recognizes that Kosovo will never again be its part, the better for Serbia and the region," says Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama.

In an interview for the AP, he added that he "firmly felt and believed" that "they have already recognized it without saying so."

Ethnic Albanians in Kosovo in early 2008 unilaterally declared independence, but Serbia rejected the proclamation as a violation of its territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Kosovo's foreign minister Enver Hoxhaj said Wednesday he will attend a regional conference in Belgrade in his first such visit since the territory unilaterally seceded from Serbia in 2008.

"This visit is an indicator of the normalisation of relations between Kosovo and Serbia as two independent and sovereign states," Hoxhaj said in a statement.

While refusing to recognise the independence of its former southern province, Serbia has agreed to improve relations with Kosovo for the sake of its integration into the EU.

Belgrade – Kosovo will be not be an independent state for the new regional television N1, which is the exclusive partner of CNN for the region, told Danas Jugoslav Cosic, Director of the Program for Serbia of the new regional television , which will broadcast from Belgrade, Sarajevo and Zagreb. He said the new regional TV station will treat Kosovo as the United Nations.

Defense and Internal Affairs Committee condemns attacks (B92)

NOVI SAD -- A Serbian parliament committee met on Tuesday in Novi Sad and condemned the attacks on the property of members of national minorities.

The Committee on Defense and Internal Affairs also called on the government to firmly deal with the individuals who committed the attacks which constitute an incitement to ethnic hatred.

The Committee held a session to discuss the attacks on the property owned by Albanians and the Goranis which occurred on October 14 after the incident at the football match in Belgrade between the teams of Serbia and Albania.

Reception held for participants of UN missions conference (Tanjug)

BELGRADE - Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic has hosted a reception for the participants of a regional conference on involvement of Western Balkan states in United Nations peacekeeping missions.

Serbia will make a full contribution to the role of the United Nations in preserving peace in the world, Dacic said late Monday.

"We cannot influence the creation of global policies, but we can make a contribution to preserving security and peace in the world through peacekeeping missions," Dacic said.

Serbia stands ready to boost its UN peacekeeping role (Tanjug)

BELGRADE - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic said during a meeting with United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations Herve Ladsous in Belgrade on Monday that Serbia stood ready to increase its contributions to UN peacekeeping operations.

Nikolic stressed the importance of UN peacekeeping forces and their contribution to the preservation of stability in the world, especially in Southeastern Europe.

Ties with Moscow "won't slow down EU integration" (B92, Blic)

BELGRADE -- The discrepancy between the foreign policies of Serbia and the EU will not slow down the EU integration process and opening of the first chapters.

This is according to Tanja Miščević, head of Serbia's negotiating team in the EU accession talks.

"At this stage of our preparation for the opening of negotiating chapters, it is clear that the condition is to implement everything that has been agreed by the Brussels agreement," Miščević told the Belgrade daily Danas.

Vladeta Kostic condemns attacks on a national basis (TV Most)

On the occasion of a series of attacks on shops in Vojvodina owned by ethnic Albanians, today announced and a member of Parliament of Serbia, Vladeta Kostic, urging the attacks to stop.

"I condemn all incidents occurring in Kosovo and Metohija, but I also condemn and those that took place in Novi Sad, Sombor, Pancevo, Becej, Subotica and in all other places in Vojvodina and Serbia and urge them to stop immediately because they damage interests of Serbia and the Serbian people especially those of us who live in Kosovo and Metohija," Kostic said.
