Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder said it is realistic for Serbia to join the European Union by 2025, adding that Pristina would have to abolish the tariffs on the goods from central Serbia sooner or later, which is a precondition that both sides return to the negotiation table, RTV Puls reports.

“I absolutely think that the introduction of mentioned punitive tariffs is a bad thing. I think they will be revoked, and this is not my personal opinion, but also the opinion of the EU and other states that it has to be done sooner or later,” Schroeder told Blic daily.

Russian Federation Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Chepurn said that the free trade zone between Serbia and Eurasian Economic Union would soon be established and it only remains that the decision is confirmed at Intergovernmental Council, RTS reports.

In the past twenty years, Serbia has paid about 700 million euros of Kosovo's debt and will continue to do so, Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said on Tuesday. Kosovo Albanians 11 years ago unilaterally declared independence of this Serbian province - but Serbia considers the move a violation of its Constitution and territorial integrity and sovereignty.

"When debt needs to be paid off, then they are a part of Serbia. When there's property to be grabbed, then they are an independent state," Dacic told reporters in Belgrade, referring to the behavior of the Kosovo Albanians.

Serbian Government Office for Kosovo and Metohija Director, Marko Djuric assessed Pristina authorities are mocking requests that USA President Donald Trump put forward in his letter, in which, as Djuric said, he unequivocally requested Pristina to revoke the tariffs, Tanjug news agency reported.

“Trump requested them to refrain from unilateral acts. And what did they do? Nothing. Not only that they did not revoke the tariffs, they also adopted Trepca statute which is a new unilateral attack against the Serbian properties,” Djuric told journalists in Belgrade.

Serbian parliamentarians are paying the first official visit to Kenya, since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries 56 years ago, RTS reports.

Serbian Assembly Speaker Maja Gojkovic, who is leading the delegation, started this historic visit by signing a Memorandum on Cooperation between the two parliaments with her Kenyan counterpart Justin Muturi.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic announced the possibility of extraordinary elections, RTS reported, adding he would make a decision on that soon.

He said early elections are possible if the situation regarding Kosovo remains unchanged, respectively if Pristina does not abolish tariffs, so the talks can not continue.

“It is possible, in this case, to go for slightly earlier elections, if such decisions are made, and would they we shall see,” Vucic told journalists after visiting the hospital for children in Belgrade.

Demarcation will be Serbia’s official proposal to resolve the Kosovo issue, Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said on Tuesday.

Dacic said that the exact demarcation line has not been defined yet even though the demarcation idea is in play.

Radio Free Europe estimates that Germany and the US have found themselves on the opposite sides when it comes to resolving the Kosovo issue.

The process of seeking a solution to the issue of normalizing relations between Serbia and Kosovo has long been internationalized, but the last year, the US has made a turn, after which seems the view of the Washington administration is considerably different.

Serbian diplomatic and consular network should get expanded this year by seven more representative offices in the Caribbean region, South America, Middle and Far East, Belgrade-based daily Vecernje Novosti reported.

The daily writes Serbia would open new embassies and consulates in Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname, Venezuela, Vietnam, Papua New Guinea, Armenia and Palestine. The daily added places for new diplomatic offices were chosen in line with the realization of one of the most important Serbian foreign policy goals and it is to preserve sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The United States, headed by President Donald Trump, is interested in resolving the issue of Kosovo and Metohija. Serbian Foreign Affairs Minister Ivica Dacic said this, B92 reports.

"Trump is interested in resolving the issue of Kosovo and Metohija. Trump needs a foreign policy success, and that would be a permanent solution for Kosovo that cannot be achieved without a solution with Serbia," Dacic told Happy TV.

He added that Trump realized there would be no agreement without Serbia, as have the Albanians, but also some European countries.
