US Vice President Joe Biden has given his backing to Kosovo joining the European Union (EU) and promised £1.7billion in aid. VP Biden and his wife Jill flew into Serbia and Kosovo in a bid to smooth over a border and immigration row bubbling away in the Balkans. And he said politicians in the capital Pristina will have to do more to help ensure the growing status of the Serbian community in Kosovo if they hope to enter the EU. Mr.
Kosovo government intends to reconstruct its ranks, namely to reduce the number of ministries to the detriment of Serbs. According to the web portal Sputnik, the Ministry for Communities and Return which is led by a Serb, would be abolished and would be lowered at the level of the Office, which will operate under the auspices of the Prime Minister’s cabinet.
Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) has submitted a proposal for a session to be called where Jadranka Joksimović, the Minister without portfolio in the Serbian Government in charge for European Integrations, and Marko Đurić, director of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija, would answer the MPs’ questions about Chapter 35 and normalization of relations with Kosovo.
The director of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Marko Đurić, said that big powers now, in a way, need Association/Community of Serb majority municipalities as a kind of leverage for making the balance in politics. Đurić said to TV Pink that it is ‘very important’ that something that was Serbia’s proposal is supported and by those who recognize Kosovo’s independence.
The US has ‘invested a lot of bombs’ in 1999 for reaching Kosovo’s independence, however the times have changed and Americans are now aware that without Serbia nothing significant could be achieved in the region, stated the chairperson of the Serbian Assembly’s Committee for Kosovo and Metohija, Milovan Drecun.
U.S. Vice President Joe Biden has pledged that the United States will "stand by the people of Kosovo," adding that "if you succeed, the region will succeed."
Biden was speaking in the Kosovar capital, Pristina, on August 17 following meetings with Kosovo's President Hashim Thaci and Prime Minister Isa Mustafa.
Biden urged Kosovo to make every effort to implement an EU-brokered normalization agreement between Pristina and Belgrade, expressing the hope of welcoming "a democratic, multiethnic Kosovo" into the European family.

The Association of Families of Kidnapped and Killed in Kosovo sent an open letter to Biden and Vučić, asking them to discuss the release of Serbs kidnapped in Kosovo.
The letter said that they have firm evidence and videos proving that the abducted Serbs are alive in camps in Likovac, Lapušnik, Glođane, Mališevo.
The letter said that former Hague Tribunal chief Prosecutor Carla del Ponte former Council of Europe special rapporteur for Kosovo Dick Marty also have this evidence.
Expert-level delegations of Belgrade and Pristina will continue in Brussels on Monday the dialogue on the Association/Community of Serb Municipalities (A/CSM). They will also discuss telecommunications and other open issues, Tanjug reported. Belgrade's delegation is headed by the director of the Serbian Government’s Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Marko Đjurić.
