Ambassadors threaten with UN if special court is not established (Telegrafi)

Ambassadors of the US, Germany, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Italy, and the EU special representative reiterated today in Prizren that if Kosovo authorities fail to establish the special court, this competency will then be transferred to the United Nations. They added that the special court will benefit Kosovo and its future.

The Dutch Ambassador to Kosovo, Robert Bosch, said on Monday that if Kosovo fails to establish special court, then Kosovo would have a United Nations court. "For Kosovo, it is better to have a special court, rather than a UN court, since there are countries that are not good friends with Kosovo and they have a great influence,” Bosch said. He said he expects that special court would be located in Netherlands, although, according to him, there is still no final decision on its location.

Political analyst from Pristina Behlul Becaj said to Skopje-based media that court will include all who participated in conflict, but politicians who inspired killings during the conflict as well.

Mustafa: Special court not against KLA (Koha)

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, said on Wednesday that special court will deal with individual cases and not with the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA). He said that the Law on special court soon will be processed in the government and in Parliament.  "By the end of this week or early next week we will proceed with the establishment of special court. It is a difficult process but helps to resolve the issues raised. The court is not directed against the KLA, but only against certain individuals,” said Mustafa.

The Srpska List called on Albanian leaders in Kosovo-Metohija and representatives of the Kosovo government and parliament to pass a bill setting up a court that would try war crimes committed by the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA).

The Srpska List noted that the attacks targeting Serbs in Kosovo-Metohija are well-organized, and aimed at intimidating the remaining Serb population, and presenting prominent Serbs as “bloodthirsty criminals” so as to make the Serb people in the province powerless.

EULEX filed the request for an Interpol arrest warrant (Danas)

Chairman of the Board of the Serbian Assembly for control of the security services, the former security officer of the Yugoslav Army and member of SNS Momir Stojanovic with 16 other citizens of Gjakova/Djakovica was found on an Interpol "red" arrest warrant on suspicion that in 1999 in Kosovo he has committed crimes against civilians. The EU mission in Pristina yesterday confirmed unofficial claims of the state officials in Belgrade that the request for an arrest warrant was filed by EULEX.

Ten KLA criminals targeted by a new court (Blic)

At least ten Kosovo Liberation Army members will stand trials in front of the special court for war crimes in Kosovo, which should be established soon, amongst whom and some from the very top.

The US Ambassador to Kosovo Tracey Ann Jacobson said that quick creation of the special court is important for the wellbeing and future of Kosovo and stressed that the court won’t deal with more than ten cases.

“This court will remove the black stain over the KLA, and will not deal at all with the glorious fight of the KLA,” said Jacobson in Prizren.

Vetevendosje discloses draft law on establishing special court (Tribuna)

Vetevendosje MPs, Albulena Haxhiu and Glauk Konjufca, presented in a press conference the document on the establishment of the special court that includes two constitutional amendments and one draft law. Haxhiu said it is unjust to keep the document confidential as they endanger the freedom of the people of Kosovo. She interpreted the document by stating that the special court is set to consist of only international judges and that all those that will be sentenced by the court will serve their sentences outside the territory of Kosovo.
