Assembly to decide on EULEX tomorrow (Gazeta Express)

The Government of Kosovo is expected to hold another meeting tonight at 18:00 hours, in order to precede the agreement for extension of EULEX’s mandate at the Assembly. It remains for the MPs to say their final word during the Thursday’s session. Extension of EULEX’s mandate is expected to be discussed and voted at the Assembly of Kosovo during the session called by the Assembly Presidency for Thursday. Gazeta Express sources said that Assembly Presidency will not need to hold a special meeting or hold a separate session for EULEX.

The Presidency of the Assembly of Kosovo decided to hold the next Assembly session on Thursday, 16 June, at 10:00 hours. The issue of the demarcation of the border with Montenegro was not even mentioned at the meeting. Discussions and voting on the extension of the EULEX’s mandate for two additional years, did not make the 17 points of Thursday’s agenda. However, the President of the Assembly, Kadri Veseli,  said that he believes that there will be a decision and agreement among the parties very soon.

German politician and former Member of the European Parliament, Doris Pack, in a Twitter post today wrote that she does not agree with the border-demarcation agreement with Montenegro as a condition for visa liberalisation for Kosovo. According to her, the criteria for visa liberalisation should be the same for all places.

Mustafa: We welcome EU help on the war against corruption (Gazeta Express)

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, said today that the European Union is welcomed to help Kosovo on the war against economic crime. “Kosovo has made significant steps in the war against corruption, terrorism and other phenomena,” Mustafa said. He made this statement at the launching of the joint project of the Office of the European Union and the Council of Europe against the economic crime in Kosovo.

RTK director to suspend editor who insulted LGBTI community (GazetaExpress)

The director general of the Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK), Mentor Shala, has distanced himself from the offensive language that RTK 3 editor, Arsim Halili, used towards the LGBTI community in Kosovo. “The insults made by Arsim Halimi towards LGBTI people are his personal views and in no way constitute the attitude of RTK. RTK respects the rights of each community equally, regardless of their sexual orientation,” Shala wrote on his Facebook account.

Lajcak: Slovakia supports visa liberalization for Kosovo (Gazeta Express)

Slovakia Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak said on Thursday that Slovakia sees no problem that the citizens of Turkey will travel without visas in the European Union, and that it supports visa liberalization for Kosovo, Ukraine and Georgia. Slovakia is one of the five member states of the EU which has not recognized Kosovo, but despite this Slovakia recognizes Kosovo passports and supports visa liberalization, the news site reports.

Thaci: We expect recommendation for visa liberalization (Gazeta Express)

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci met on Thursday Sweden’s Ambassador to Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, nonresident for Kosovo, Mats Staffansson. President Thaci said the entry into force of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA) has positively influenced the political dialogue within Kosovo, as all parties are participating in the discussion for the implementation of the SAA.

Molliqaj: Haradinaj does not possess purity or wisdom to overthrow the regime (Gazeta Express)

Dardan Molliqaj from Vetevendosje movement, spoke about the problems with the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), and its leader, Ramush Haradinaj. Speaking for the public broadcaster RTK, Molliqaj said that Ramush Haradinaj cannot lead the “Alternative” list, being that he does not possess the purity nor wisdom to bring down what he calls “regime.”

Zbogar SAA important for Kosovo (Gazeta Express)

Head of the European Union Office in Kosovo, Samuel Zbogar, said that the Stabilization Association Agreement is both politically and economically important and it shows clearly the European perspective of Kosovo. Zbogar made these comments during a round table for the SAA. “We want functioning of the rule of law a functional assembly without compromise towards corruption. SAA will create conditions for investments. It will create new jobs,” Zbogar said. He added however that SAA is not only an economic agreement.
