The government of Kosovo has expressed concern and regret for the violence exercised by militant groups of the opposition parties over the Kosovo Police and the other constitutional institutions, injuring seriously some police officials, casing damages to public and private properties and disturbing the citizens.

Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hashim Thaci, hailed through a posting on Facebook, inclusion of Kosovo’s membership in the agenda of the UNESCO Executive Council.

“ A few minutes ago, the Executive Board of the UNESCO approved in Paris the final agenda, where the point of Kosovo’s membership, sponsored by 47 states, was included. It is a small procedural victory but it is important because now we can focus on voting next week,” Thaci wrote.

The Government of the Republic of Kosovo issued a media statement expressing regret over the violence used by a group of opposition MPs in today’s session of the Assembly. “Despite the extreme conditions created by the violence caused by this group of opposition MPs, thanks to the determination and democratic commitment of the parliamentarian majority, the Assembly today adopted several laws that are important for the lives of citizens.

The front-page editorial of this daily notes that it has become a routine to seek help from those that Kosovo politicians call with extreme servility “international friends,” every time that they face crisis. “The same is happening with Assembly blockade which is consequence of the abuse of the dialogue with Serbia, producing in this manner illegal, anti-constitutional and dangerous agreements for the stability and functionality of Kosovo… Incapability of the current political class to overcome the status-quo, means failure to keep a state.

Government of Kosovo in its routine meeting today cancelled a previous decision to allocate funds for the repair of damages caused during March 2004 riots. The government had initially planned to give €97,000 for the purpose. In addition, the government also revoked the decision to provide assistance funds to the municipality of Shterpce/Strpce. Mustafa said the new decisions will apply until a final court verdict.

The President of the Assembly, Kadri Veseli, during a round-table on the current approaches of the government and the opposition, stated today that the behavior of the opposition in the Assembly is a violation of the rules of this institution. “We have laws and Constitution, and also the Assembly has its own rules. The blockade is against all regulations and laws,” Veseli said. According to him, the opposition through its behavior is also blocking the adoption of many laws that are important for the people of Kosovo.

Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Isa Mustafa, wrote on his Facebook page that Kosovo should become member of the international organizations, and it should be recognized by the five European Union countries. He added that Kosovo people deserve freedom of movement, without limits of visa regime. “Support for many other recognitions is required. Faster economic development could be reached only through political and diplomatic cooperation with other countries,” wrote Mustafa.

Kosovo Police identified a few individuals who were planning to attack the escort of the Prime Minister Isa Mustafa.

The police requested to search the bags of the suspects, when they threw them away and fled.

The government of the Republic of Kosovo issued a press release condemning the violent acts conducted today by opposition MPs at the session of the Assembly, where the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, was briefing MPs and citizens of the Republic of Kosovo regarding the agreements reached in Brussels. “The Government of the Republic of Kosovo considers that everyone has an obligation to refrain from acts of violence and to avoid actions that exceed the democratic opposition format which harm the interests of the Republic of Kosovo.

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa requested today during the Government meeting interruption of a Government contract for vehicle repair with his son, saying that he was not aware of it. He further spoke about the level of corruption in Kosovo, after the publication of some data by the civil society. He said that people’s perception on the corruption is affecting building of a legal state and Kosovo’s integration in the EU and other international bodies.
