Government of Kosovo allocates €31,000 for “Civil Protection” integration (Koha)

The government of Kosovo has allocated €31,000 aimed at integration of the members of the “Civil Protection” into Kosovo institutions. Minister for Dialogue, Edita Tahiri, said the move finalizes the integration of the structure operating in the north of Kosovo considered illegal by the government in Pristina.

A Kosovo government-backed working group set up to draft a national strategy for dealing with the wartime past has been troubled by divisions, disputes and failures to deliver, a new report says.

Kosovo government allocates over €1.5m for special court indictees (RFE)

The government of Kosovo has set aside over €1.5 million for legal aid to persons that could be indicted by specialist chamber. The funds were allocated in accordance to a legislation stipulating that persons indicted by the court could seek assistance in covering their legal fees. Analyst Imer Mushkolaj considers funding of legal assistance for special court indictees to be unacceptable. He said the indictees should not be paying their defence counsels from the Kosovo taxpayers’ money.

Assembly endorses resolution which suspends dialogue until Haradinaj's release (Lajmi.net)

Head of the Parliamentary Group of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Pal Lekaj, proposed today again during the Assembly session a resolution related to Ramush Haradinaj’s case. He said that discussions with Serbia should suspend until Haradinaj’s release.

The coalition government parties, the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) were pro resolution for Haradinaj, however they said that the text of the resolution should be harmonized.

The government of Kosovo has issued a press release saying that it will review the draft law on Kosovo Security Force (KSF) transformation as soon as it receives it from the Assembly and make sure it is in line with the Constitution of Kosovo. The press release states that the draft law was proposed by President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, but that Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, was informed on the initiative on 5 March before Thaci announced it during a visit to KSF barracks.

Kosovo Assembly presidency has unanimously decided to submit the draft law on Kosovo Security Force (KSF) transformation to the Government. Kosovo Assembly President Kadri Veseli said he expects the government to forward the bill to the Assembly as quickly as possible. “Every step we undertook in the last 18 years has been in partnership with international community,” Veseli said after the meeting of the Assembly presidency. He called on the Serbian List to return to Kosovo institutions “where they belong.” “We have tried to reach political consensus for three years.
