Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic denied claims that she never mentioned UN Security Council Resolution 1244 on Kosovo at the UN General Assembly session, TV N1 reported

Negotiations on Kosovo under the auspices of the EU have yielded no results, without US, Russia and China it is impossible to achieve a viable and applicable compromise between Belgrade and Pristina, said Minister of Innovation and Technological Development Nenad Popovic, adding that the issue of Kosovo slowly returns to the Security Council of the UN, the Serbian media reported.

„Russia is always committed to the strict and accurate fulfillment and compliance with UN SC Resolution 1244. We support the actions of Belgrade aimed at fulfilling this most important international document,”  Russian Foreign Affairs Minister Sergey Lavrov said in Sochi yesterday following the meeting with his Serbian counterpart Ivica Dacic, KoSSev portal reported.

Minister Lavrov also called on KFOR and EULEX to „prevent any attempts of violence and vandalism in Kosovo, in particular against Serbs and religious sites.“

Professor of the Southeast European Studies at the University of Graz, Florian Bieber assessed that Serbia-Kosovo agreement must lead toward abolishment of the UN SC Resolution 1244, Beta news agency is reporting.

According to Bieber the agreement should lead toward a new UN SC resolution that would either replace or abolish Resolution 1244, thus providing Kosovo to become a UN member. However, British journalist and analyst Tim Judah thinks that the text of the agreement does not have to be in contradiction with the Resolution 1244.

Serbs in Kosovo do not support the formation of an army in Kosovo, and it will not be formed, Serbian Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin has said.

Beta news agency reported today Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said he was not optimistic about the upcoming talks with Pristina representatives in Brussels, but that Belgrade would not give up on dialogue, since talks are the only solution towards a compromise.

“The talks in Brussels are ahead of us. I am not an optimist, but Serbs will make efforts to reach a compromise,” Vucic told reporters at the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts after the opening of a two-day international conference of the anti-corruption portal “Pistaljka/Whistle”.

Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic has warned Britain because of its position that fewer UN Security Council sessions dedicated to Kosovo should be held.

This is according to Belgrade daily Vecernje Novosti.

It writes on Friday that Dacic pointed out to the British ambassador in Belgrade that Serbia would not view it favorably if his country in August, when it will preside over the UN Security Council, puts the issue of holding fewer, or abandoning altogether the public sessions on the situation in Kosovo and Metohija on the agenda.

Announced withdrawal of a military mission from Kosovo would destabilize the entire region and endanger survival of Serbs, Belgrade-based daily Vecernje Novosti writes today.

The daily continued Serbia would seek support from the two influential UN SC member states, Russia and China, in order to prevent obvious plans of Pristina’s allies to withdraw KFOR and EULEX missions from Kosovo and Metohija.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met on Thursday with President of Cyprus Nikos Anastasiades, whom he welcomed in Belgrade earlier in the day.

Speaking after the meeting, Anastasiades - who was throughout their joint news conference addressing Vucic as "friend" and "dear president" - pointed out that relations between our two countries are deeply rooted in historic, friendly and religious ties, and that their mutually beneficial cooperation is safe.

We appeal to our statesmen to never consent to the alienation of Kosovo and Metohija, since what is taken by force can be returned, while what is given away as a gift is lost forever, and Serbs and Serbia must not allow that to happen. The Serbian Orthodox Church (SOC) sincerely hopes that the problem created firstly by an armed uprising of Albanian separatists, and then by the occupation of our southern province would be resolved peacefully based on justice and law principles.
