Police wants to meet Vetevendosje representatives (Kosovapress)

Kosovo Police general director Shpend Maxhuni said they are trying to set up a meeting with leaders of Vetevendosje and agree on modalities regarding the Wednesday protest. Maxhuni made the comments during his reporting before the parliamentary committee on internal affairs, security and supervision of the Kosovo Security Force. He said the Kosovo Police would like to learn from Vetevendosje actions they plan to undertake during the protest.

Vetevendosje will protest 48 hours in front of government building (Indeksonline)

Citing unidentified sources, the news site reports that the Vetevendosje Movement will hold a peaceful protest in front of the Kosovo government building starting on 4 February. "The Vetevendosje Movement and its opposition are planning to protest at least for 48 hours in front of the government building," the source said.

Police trying to disperse protesters with teargas and water cannons (news websites)

Today’s protest called by Vetevendosje and supported by other opposition parties has turned violent after the police tried to disperse protesters with teargas to prevent the crowds from approaching the government building. At present, Kosovapress reports that the protest has worsened, with a major clash occurring between the police and protesters in front of the Ministry of Culture building at Mother Theresa Square.

Selimi: People have many reasons to protest (Indeksonline)

Vetevendosje MP Rexhep Selimi said today that they have called for a peaceful protest against statements by Communities and Returns Minister Aleksandar Jablanovic and the Trepca issue. “Our goal is to have a peaceful protest,” Selimi told the news site. “This government is giving the people many reasons to protest. This is neither the first nor the last protest. I don’t know if there will be more or less protesters than on Saturday.”

NISMA to join protest on Saturday (Gazeta Express)

The Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA), through a press release announced that supports the  Saturday's protests organized by the “Cries of Mothers” Association and the Vetevendosje Movement. In the press release it says that NISMA is following with concern the recent development in Kosovo.  "The citizens of Kosovo have started to organize protests throughout Kosovo, to express their concern about the recent developments in the country. NISMA supports the protest to be held on Saturday and invites all its members and supporters to take part in the protest,” writes the press release.

Albin Kurti, a comeback departure (Koha Ditore)

Adriatik Kelmendi, KTV’s editor-in-chief, writes that Albin Kurti’s announcement that he is stepping down from the post of Vetevendosje leader in order to focus on the grassroots of the party is something that has not been witnessed so far in the region’s political scene. While the decision to withdraw from party’s top position is something that other leaders should look up to, it is at the same time a huge experiment with no success guarantee, says Kelmendi.

Official: Visar Ymeri to run for Vetevendosje’s leader (Koha)

Citing a press release issued by Vetevendosje, Koha reports that at 12:00 p.m. today, the deadline to submit candidacies for the leader of Vetevendosje ended. With the expiration of this period, the General Election Commission (GEC) of  Vetevendosje found that there was only one declaration for candidacy submitted – that of Visar Ymeri. In accordance with the Statute and Rules of Internal Elections of Vetevendosje, the GEC announced that Visar Ymer is the only candidate who will continue in the internal elections.

Exclusive: Albin Kurti withdraws as leader of Vetevendosje (Koha.net)

Albin Kurti has decided not to run for reelection as leader of the Vetevendosje Movement at the party’s Election Convention, which is expected to be held in the coming months. Koha.net’s sources claim that the current head of the Vetevendosje Parliamentary Group, Visar Ymeri, could be the consensual candidate to replace Kurti for a three-year mandate. Kurti is expected to remain only an activist in the party. Vetevendosje is expected to announce this news sometime today. According to the Vetevendosje statute, party leaders can only get two terms.

Kurti and Kumnova call for popular protest against Jablanovic (Kosovapress)

Albin Kurti, the leader of the Vetevendosje Movement, and Nusrete Kumnova, the head of the “Cries of Mothers” missing persons association, told a press conference today in Pristina that a popular protest will be organized on Saturday against Communities and Returns Minister Aleksandar Jablanovic. Kurti and Kumnova called on all political parties and civil society to join the protest. Protesters will call on Prime Minister Isa Mustafa to dismiss Jablanovic for his insults against the mothers of missing persons in Gjakova.
