Mustfa: EULEX's presence strengthens war against corruption (Koha Ditore(

The Prime Minister of Kosovo Isa Mustafa, has requested from the Assembly to vote the draft-law on extension of EULEX's mandate, being that this would help on strengthening the justice in Kosovo.

During the plenary session which is going on right now, Mustafa expressed the position of the government and of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), on extension of the EULEX’s mandate in Kosovo. According to Mustafa, this would strengthen the rule of law and the war against corruption, while the people would feel safer.

Assembly to decide on EULEX tomorrow (Gazeta Express)

The Government of Kosovo is expected to hold another meeting tonight at 18:00 hours, in order to precede the agreement for extension of EULEX’s mandate at the Assembly. It remains for the MPs to say their final word during the Thursday’s session. Extension of EULEX’s mandate is expected to be discussed and voted at the Assembly of Kosovo during the session called by the Assembly Presidency for Thursday. Gazeta Express sources said that Assembly Presidency will not need to hold a special meeting or hold a separate session for EULEX.

Rugova residents to MPs: Don’t ratify demarcation agreement (media)

Several media report that representatives of the Rugova region have sent a letter to members of the Kosovo Assembly calling on them not to ratify the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro. The letter also calls for the formation of a new government committee that would also include representatives of the Rugova region.

AAK and NISMA to boycott Assembly’s voting on EULEX mandate (Gazeta Blic)

Officials from two opposition parties – the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) and Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA) – announced plans to continue boycotting Kosovo Assembly’s session, including the one set to vote on extending the mandate for the EU rule of law mission, EULEX. AAK’s Muharrem Nitaj said the party’s MPs would not take part in the session and the same was confirmed by Bilall Sherifi from NISMA.  The largest opposition party, Vetëvendosje, is however expected to take part in the session but will vote against extension of EULEX mandate.

The Assembly of Kosovo to gather on Thursday, demarcation and EULEX not in the agenda (Gazeta Express)

The Presidency of the Assembly of Kosovo decided to hold the next Assembly session on Thursday, 16 June, at 10:00 hours. The issue of the demarcation of the border with Montenegro was not even mentioned at the meeting. Discussions and voting on the extension of the EULEX’s mandate for two additional years, did not make the 17 points of Thursday’s agenda. However, the President of the Assembly, Kadri Veseli,  said that he believes that there will be a decision and agreement among the parties very soon.

Citing an unnamed source in the Kosovo Assembly, the news site reports on a possible extraordinary session of the Assembly on Tuesday to extend the mandate of the EU Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX). “Although nothing is certain yet, there are rumours that an extraordinary session could be held tomorrow,” the source said.

Konjufca: Radical actions if government sends agreements to the Assembly (Kallxo)

Vetevendosje parliamentary group chief, Glauk Konjufca, said in an interview for the news site that “there will be radical actions” if the government decides to send the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro and the agreement on the Association/Community of Serb-majority Municipalities to the Assembly for ratification. “Boycotting the work of the Assembly is becoming counter-productive.

Crisis is deepening (Kosova Sot)

The front page editorial of the paper notes that return of the biggest opposition party at the Assembly is a warning for return of the tensioned sessions and deepening of political crisis. Vetevendosje movement has ended its boycott of the Parliament, on the verge of the ratification of the agreement for demarcation of the border with Montenegro and re-actualization of the Association/Community of the Serb-majority Municipalities.

AAK still undecided whether to return to Assembly (Indeksonline)

The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) responded positively to the call for a joint meeting between the three opposition parties, initiated by the leader of Vetevendosje Movement, Visar Ymeri. AAK’s senior member and spokesperson, Muharrem Nitaj, told the news site that the AAK is ready for a joint meeting, however, they first need to know the topics to be discussed during that meeting.  “We are open to meet anyone, but it depends on what will be discussed during those meetings.

Assembly schedules session for next week, border demarcation not on agenda (RTK)

The upcoming session of the Kosovo Assembly has been scheduled for 9 June but the anticipated border demarcation agreement with Montenegro will not be discussed at this time. Assembly Speaker Kadri Veseli said they are still in the process of discussing the issue adding that it will however be put to vote “soon”. “The moment we are convinced that the interests of citizens are not undermined, we will vote on this agreement”, he said after the meeting of the Assembly presidency.
