Haradinaj: United Nations' role, irreplaceable (media)

Prime Minister of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, met the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, Bintou Keita, and discussed important issues Kosovo is facing and the progress achieved in the last two decades. The UN Assistant Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations Bintou Keita had separate meetings on Monday with Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic, Office for Kosovo and Metohija Director Marko Djuric and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

Serbian officials told her that Serbia is committed to finding a compromise solution for Kosovo and warned of increasingly frequent incidents.

Kosovo received “yellow light” from US to act stubborn (Danas)

Pristina received some sort of “yellow light” from Washington to “act stubborn” before the next phase of negations in Brussels on resolving the Kosovo issue, which is shown by the refusal of Kosovo representatives to take part in a new round of technical dialogue, Danas daily reports referring to unofficial diplomatic sources.

Vucic, Chepurin on Kosovo, Russian support (Tanjug, Blic)

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic received today Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Serbia, Alexander Chepurin and discussed further cooperation between the two countries, the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, as well as Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, Serbian media reported.

President Vucic voiced great concern over frequent attacks against the Serbs in Kosovo, pointing out to the need to reach a true compromise and not a solution that would imply only pressure on Serbia.

Vecernje Novosti: Vucic rejected "US package" for Kosovo (RTS, Vecernje Novosti)

Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) reports, quoting Belgrade based daily Vecernje Novosti, that the president of Serbia allegedly did not want to introduce the public with a working document related to resolving the Kosovo problem, assessing it as "unworthy of attention and unacceptable for Serbia".

According to Novosti, representatives of Kosovo and Serbia were presented with four pillars of the historic agreement:

Drecun: Huge gap between Serbs and Albanians (Tanjug, B92, TV Pink)

Chairperson of the Serbian Assembly Committee for Kosovo and Metohija, Milovan Drecun told Serbian media there is a huge gap between Serbs and Albanians and people alike Ramush Haradinaj cannot build a reconciliation.

He added, Haradinaj’s remarks on reconciliation are “cynical” and the biggest contribution (to the reconciliation) would be if he would be held responsible before the judiciary for committed crimes.

Leader of Peoples’ Party Vuk Jeremic told TV Nasa, Serbian President and SNS leader Aleksandar Vucic by surrendering to the West vital Serbian national interests pays for his remain in power, acts humbly towards internationals in order to do “whatever he wants” in Serbia.

Belgrade will continue to balance between the West and Russia (Danas)

Diplomatic sources of Danas and international relations experts do not exclude completely the possibility of Serbia changing the foreign policy course, but they assess that Belgrade will endeavour in maintaining the current position of balancing between the West and Russia.

According to interlocutors of Danas, any changes in foreign policy will depend largely on the next phase of resolving the Kosovo issue.

Milos Jovanovic: If this continues, Nis would become Albanian (BETA, B92)

Leader of Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) Milos Jovanovic told BETA news agency, Serbian Government has rejected a proposal in 2007 similar to that of a legally binding agreement that is being offered to Aleksandar Vucic now.

Jovanovic assessed if Vucic does what he says he would do then it would be an “act of a high treason.”

“It looks like if one man is Messiah or given by God to resolve that issue. We must not give legal cover up to secession, but to re-affirm international law,” DSS leader said.
