President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, said today at an open debate with representatives of Serbian media and civil society, at the Medeia Center based in Caglavica,, that the creation of a Kosovo army is legal and fully in line with the Constitution of Kosovo. He said he expects NATO to continue supporting the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) as it did since its establishment. “Transformation will be done by preserving partnership with our allies. We will have both the army and partners,” Thaci said.

Sputnik says that President of Kosovo Hashim Thaçi offered the ''international community'' his resignation to avoid the trial before the Court for the KLA crimes, and cites assessment of political analyst from Pristina, Behlul Beqaj who said that this could be one of the three possible options.

Sputnik recalls that Thaçi mentioned his resignation at the moment when he insisted on the formation of the army of Kosovo, though Washington and NATO opposed.

President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, met today the Secretary General of the World Muslim League, Mohammad bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa and thanked him for the visit and the support Saudi Arabia has given to Kosovo. Thaci said that Kosovo is grateful for the continuous lobbying on behalf of Kosovo with Muslim countries while his interlocutor said Kosovo’s plight for independence was just and that it was “shameful” that not all Muslim countries have recognised it.

MP of the Serbian List in the Kosovo Parliament Nenad Rašić said that the resolution for the unconditional release of Ramush Haradinaj adopted by the Assembly of Kosovo contains and a request to stop the dialogue with Belgrade, and thus represents a kind of political pressure on the EU.

According to Rašić, this resolution is not binding. He said that the resolution has no requests of the opposition concerning the abolition of Serbian warrants for possible suspects.

Kosovo Assembly MP from the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), considers the fact that the President of Kosovo Hashim Thaci discussed transformation of KSF with the Serbian PM Aleksandar Vucic, and not with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, unacceptable and hurting.

He said that this is a mistake made by the President, and added that except for the PM Mustafa, he should have also consulted numerous experts of military matters.
