The Prime Minister of Kosovo Ramush Haradinaj, said today at the Millennium Challenge in Kosovo conference, that a new chapter of cooperation with the United States of America is being confirmed.

Speaking about this foundation, Haradinaj said it is important Kosovo gains aid from the U.S., and pledged to fight corruption and organized crime in order for Kosovo to profit more of this kind of financial aids.

The U.S. Ambassador to Kosovo, Greg Delawie, assessed the statements for the possibility of unification of Kosovo with Albania, as “imprudent”.

“The U.S. Government supports the sovereignty of Kosovo and Albania. We are against imprudent discussions for unification and exaggerated reactions towards such statements, which mine sustainability in the region," Delawie said.

During the second day of his visit to Washington, Kosovo’s Foreign Minister, Enver Hoxhaj continued with the meetings at the House of Representatives as well as Senators of the U.S. Congress from both the Republican and Democratic parties.

Enver Robelli writes today in his opinion piece that Hashim Thaci’s and his dependents’ concerns, are not Kosovo’s concerns, therefore Pristina should coordinate with NATO, the U.S. and the EU with regards to the creation of the army.

NATO and the United States warned Wednesday they could scale back cooperation with Kosovo's security services if the government goes ahead with plans to transform its lightly-armed security force into an army without the required constitutional changes.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said he told Kosovo's leaders by telephone "that unilateral steps such as these are unhelpful." He warned that if Kosovo goes ahead as planned "NATO will have to review its level of commitment, particularly in terms of capacity-building."

The United States said Wednesday that it was "concerned" by Kosovo's plans to convert its security force into a regular army without a constitutional amendment — a move sure to infuriate Serbia.

"We support the gradual transparent transformation of the Kosovo Security Force into a multiethnic force in line with NATO standards," a statement from the embassy in Pristina said.

The President of the Assembly of Kosovo, Kadri Veseli, received today the official photo from his meeting a week ago with the U.S President, Donald Trump in Washington.

After receiving the photo, Veseli took to Facebook to tell that Trump has given support to Kosovo.

Serbia’s Foreign Minister, Ivica Dačić, expressed fear that “some unmeasured actions” of Pristina could destabilize the entire region.

Dačić is currently in Washington, invited for the Morning Prayer, where he expressed his concern to the U.S. administration for the pressure and the situation created by Kosovo, reports B92.

Ethnic tensions are rising in Kosovo, setting the stage for an early test of U.S.-Russian relations under President Donald Trump in a Balkan country where U.S. troops keep the peace decades after a NATO air campaign ended Serb rule over the Albanian population.

A 78-day U.S.-led bombing campaign in 1999 forced Serbia to give up control of Kosovo, which Serbs consider their historic homeland, after months of reprisal killings and forced dislocations by armed Serbs and ethnic Albanian rebels.

Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Kosovo and Metohija Milovan Drecun says that he is concerned about new statement of US Secretary of Defense James Mathis that the recognition of Kosovo would be actualized before Serbia's membership in the EU.

"Does this mean that the Trump’s administration will give up the former US stance not to exert pressure and not require from Serbian recognition of Kosovo? If it came to such a development of events, that would be a negative trend," said Milovan Drecun for RTS.
