Slovakia "supports Serbia's EU bid, won't recognize Kosovo" (B92, Beta, Tanjug)

BRATISLAVA -- Slovakia is Serbia's true friend, whose experience can teach us a lot, Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said on Thursday in Bratislava.

He made the statement as he met with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico.

Vucic told at a joint press conference with the Slovakian prime minister that Serbia's goal is full stabilization of the Balkans.

He said that Serbia will use some of the measures that the Slovakian government has successfully implemented with an eye to boosting economy.

Djuric discusses Kosovo with Latin American diplomats (KIM radio, Tanjug)

The head of the Serbian government Office for Kosovo-Metohija, Marko Djuric, met with the diplomatic representatives of several Latin American countries in Serbia on Wednesday, briefing them on the course of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue and the situation in Kosovo.

The diplomats from Argentina, Cuba, Mexico, Venezuela and Brazil confirmed that their countries have no intention of reversing their position on non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of Serbia's southern province, the Office said in a statement.

Dacic: We are against the creation of army of Kosovo (Tanjug)

Serbia is interested in peace and stability in Kosovo and Metohija, but is against the creation of the army of Kosovo and this topic should be discussed at the level of United Nations Security Council, said Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ivica Dacic.

While answering participants’ questions at NATO Parliamentary Assembly Rose-Roth Seminar on the topic “Serbia, Western Balkans and Euro-Atlantic Community’ Dacic said that Serbia is against the creation of army of Kosovo because it is not line with the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244.

Chief-of-staff Dikovic at UN conference (Tanjug)

Chief-of-staff the Serbian Armed Forces Ljubisa Dikovic took part in the first conference of chiefs of staff of the countries participating in the multinational UN operations held in New York, the Defence Ministry released in a statement.

This is the first conference of the kind organized by the UN since its establishment.

Friday's conference in New York brought together chiefs of staff of over 100 UN member states and the high military officials were addressed by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.

EU "ready to open first chapters this year" (Dailies)

EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said in Belgrade on Friday that the organization she represents "sees Serbia's European future."

She stated that she was "ready for the first negotiating chapters to be opened this year."

"And my main message here is not only that Serbia is firmly on the path towards the European Union, but also that the Union is ready for the opening of negotiating chapters this year. It is of mutual importance," she during a joint news conference with Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic.

MPs of the Serbian List and Mustafa on return to Kosovo institutions (Tanjug)

Representatives of the Serbian List spoke this morning with Kosovo Prime Minister Isa Mustafa about the possibility for their return to Kosovo institutions, Tanjug learned. 

In the last two days, several meetings were held. With Kosovo PM and his Deputy Hashim Thaci spoke Kosovo Deputy PM Branimir Stojanovic, Mayors of Gracanica, Kosovska Mitrovica and Strpce, Vladeta Kostic, Goran Rakic and Bratislav Nikolic, and Minister for Local Self-Government Ljubomir Maric. 

Mogherini: We are not turning a blind eye to Serbia (Dailies)

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini dismissed claims that the EU "is turning a blind eye" to Serbia's internal reforms, all because of Belgrade's readiness to resolve the Kosovo issue.

Economic, social and political reforms have to be achieved and implemented without any delay. So, there is no turning a blind eye, Mogherini said in an interview for Belgrade-based daily Danas.

The EU official arrived Friday in Belgrade, where she first met with Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic.

Informal ministerial meeting held in Pristina (B92, Tanjug, Beta)

An informal meeting of ministers of foreign affairs and ministers of transport of regional countries was held in Pristina on Wednesday.

Serbia was represented by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic, Tanjug reported.
